Owner description: Don't take the name so literally. We're about fun. Not your white walls, walk around, and be quiet museum. If you want to climb around, get active with your kids or are a big kid at heart, we're the place. If you get freaked out easily, you might not want to come. We're four floors filled with miles of tunnels, a full cave system, over 30 slides, a circus, an arts area, a large outdoor climbing space, Architectural Museum, a Cabin that serves adult beverages, a Museum of Mayhem, Mirth and Mystery, and a ton more. Also, there's the roof with a Ferris Wheel and a bus hanging off its edge.

A children's dream. All kinds of spaces to explore, 2-story slides, ropes to swing from, arts & crafts. Lots of fun. Just be sure you can keep up with your child so they won't get lost!

Great time at city museum!!! We visited on a Saturday evening and prices dropped to $10 a person after 5pm, so we picked a great time to visit. It is so amazing how they came up with all the tunnels, slides, caves, metal walkways, castle ect. They don't have maps and you have to wander around to discover everything. We were there for over 5 hours and I don't think we saw everything. We noticed the crowd change as the evening went on, from families with young kids to couples with out kids to young adults hanging with friends. Food was good in the 2nd floor cafe and the BBQ outside smelled wonderful. Prices for food and drinks was reasonable. There was lots of room for expansion, so hopefully the museum will continue to put in more attractions.

This Museum is a must see if you visit St. Louis , great for all ages. I assumed a City Museum would be a typical historical Museum similar to others we've seen in our home town (Milwaukee) and other cities we've visited. Wow, It is so unique, I've never seen anything like it before or since. Our kids loved it as much when they were elementary school age as they did this recent time we visited when they were teens. It's open late on friday and saturday nights and that is a really fun time to visit. There are many structures to climb in. on and around. It's hard to describe but I guarantee that you will enjoy it.

This place may be one of the strangest places you will visit. It is part museum and part playground. I have photos of my kids sitting together playing an old piano. There are hidden tunnels to crawl through, a bus leaning off the side of the building that the kids can pretend to drive, a concrete slide, giant indoor concrete trees, the Wold Aquarium is also at this location and might be the most unique Aquarium ever where kids can crawl through secret passageways and tunnels in between the exhibits. Circus acts and magic acts also perform here. A hard place to describe. You have to see it for yourself. Older kids will probably enjoy it more, but there are areas there for younger children.
