Owner description: Don't take the name so literally. We're about fun. Not your white walls, walk around, and be quiet museum. If you want to climb around, get active with your kids or are a big kid at heart, we're the place. If you get freaked out easily, you might not want to come. We're four floors filled with miles of tunnels, a full cave system, over 30 slides, a circus, an arts area, a large outdoor climbing space, Architectural Museum, a Cabin that serves adult beverages, a Museum of Mayhem, Mirth and Mystery, and a ton more. Also, there's the roof with a Ferris Wheel and a bus hanging off its edge.

Just go and see for yourself. Male sure to look up close at things and step back and take in the bigger picture. Everything there has a story; the whole place is made of found, donated or salvaged objects welded, cemented and fused together. The late Bob Cassilly, founder and creator of City Museum (by the way, there is no "the" at the title; just "City Museum"), was an absolute artistic genius. Just go see.

We have 4 kids from 8-12. All the kids absolutely loved City Museum. Pay the extra $5 for the roof and go early if you can. The slides were a hit with all, some liked the tunnels, others liked to climb. We ate lunch inside and it was good and a decent price. My 12 year old said he would use his own money to go again - a true compliment. This was the most unique, fun "museum" we have ever been to. On the way home, the kids asked if we could go back to St Louis soon.

Be sure to wear closed toe shoes and long pants. Don't wear something you don't want to get dirty. Also, plan to spend some time and climb with your kids. It was a blast!

After reading a ton of reviews on the City Museum vs the Magic House, we decided to go to the City Museum with our two children, ages 7 and almost 3 (one month shy of 3rd bday). I was a bit hesitant about our youngest being there. But she did great! both of them had a wonderful time. There were a few times we had to help her, but overall, I'm so glad we decided to try it. She couldn't do the big slide but she never knew about it so it was fine! Dont' take a stroller, you won't need it if your child is over 2!!

Best tip - buy small headlamps at Lowe's/WalMart for your kids to use in the caves!

This was my first trip, we went with a group for our final softball team outing of the year so the age of the girls were 11, 12, 13 yr olds. THEY had a BLAST and the parents that accompanied them also had a blast. This is a wonderful place for them to climb, slide, jump, crawl. I cannot say enough about it! We did not go into the aquarium (extra cost and just didn't have time) but we did pay to go on the roof as an extra. I am sure we did not do everything there was to do at the museum as it is packed full of places to explore. It is wonderful to see how they take things found from the city and put into this museum. My daughter lost a button from the back of her jeans (make sure tennis shoes and pants) and one of the employees told her that all things found like that were put back into the museum! If they are up and on their own two feet, they will love this adventure!

I am a father of 2 boys, 7 and 10, and this is the neatest/coolest place we have ever been. We spend 10-11 hours here, exploring the different tunnels, caves, slides, attractions, activities, circus (Claire the Clown was the best!), outside, bus, rope swing, 10 story slide and on and on.

We will be going back for many years to come!!!!!
