Maybe it's because I'm a local and I'm a little biased, but I do believe this probably the greatest zoo in the country. It's not all flash and glitz. The docents are very knowledgeable and helpful. Yes, the parking is expensive and yes you have to pay to get into certain "attractions" but it is still much more reasonable than other zoo parks in the country. I've been to some that charged $12 entry fees, then socked you with additional "attractions" and we were not allowed to bring our own food & drinks. Yes you can bring your own to the St. Louis Zoo.

This is one of the most respected parks in the nation, if not the world. $10 parking a $12 day pass to ALL attractions is hardly something to balk at. If the parking is killing you, take Metrolink. It only costs $2!

We went to this zoo early on a hot day so we could avoid some of the heat. As others have said, it was $10.00 to park. Once inside we were offered a "deal" for $12.00. It was a all day attraction pass, luckily we only purchased one for my daughter because we didnt even get to use most of it. First off at 9 am. none of the consession stands were open so forget about water. Second at 9am. the train is not running, the carsosel is not running, the 3-D ride not running, and most importantly most of the animals were not out. We walked for about 20 mins and all we saw were chipmunks. Also you better be prepared to walk. It seems impossible but most of the zoo is uphill. My daughter did eventually get to ride the carousel 3 times in a row but that is all we got for $12.00. It was an OK zoo but have been to better.

I can well see why this is rated one of the top zoos in the world. First of all, it's free to get in. A few things such as the train and the children's zoo cost extra, but very little, and I am more than willing to support this organization. There are thousands of animals to see from all over the world, and you can tell that they are well cared for. There are buildings and other attractions that are over a century old. You can hardly fit everything to do in one day. There's a good reason that this zoo is among the best zoos in the world and top rated in the United States. This is a great attraction; a top priority for tourists. If you're in town, be sure to visit the zoo.

If you are traveling to St. Louis you have to go to the Zoo. It's FREE. There are things you have to pay for but to get in to the zoo is FREE. You will love it no matter what your age. It is open year around other than a few holidays. I do suggest to take a lunch, the restaraunts are very busy and expensive. The animals are amazing and very educational for the kids. The employees are very curtious. There is plenty of parking. The restrooms for the most part are clean. The Zoo is located in Forest Park and there are tons of things to do in the Park area. You could take a weeks vacation and probably not be able to see everything in Forest Park. Happy Travels.

The St. Louis Zoo proved to be everything and then some. We were there March 19,2007 on the way to Branson, and loved it so much, retuned to see what we missed on the way home on the 23rd.(It was worth lelaving Branson a day early!) This zoo is free admission, and if you are lucky there is free parking, but even with $10.00 per vehicle parking across the street, it isn't bad. There are extra charges in the park if you choose to do this, i.e., riding the train.
There are so many different animals in the zoo that you don't see elsewhere and it is so CLEAN! A wondereful opportuninty to take advantage of.
