We spent a great day at the zoo. Park was clean and water fans kept us cool throughout the zoo. Food in the main restaurant was very good and quite reasonably priced. It was quite warm in the afternoon, but the animals were fairly active and we enjoyed ourselves quite a lot.

Had a great visit. It's so easy to do it with spending very little money. We park across highway 40 and walk across the bridge. We brought our own drinks and snacks as well. Can't wait for the new bear area to open.

A beautiful zoo--large enough to offer an amazing variety of animals but walkable for kids. Admission is free, but the Safari Pass is worth getting for the added attractions. We showed them our membership card for our local zoo and got half off!

Expect to wait in line to get parked. Buying a bracelet is the way to go. Although.you still have to pay extra for the sea lion exhibit. Save the money unless you have small children for this one. The train is really just a break from walking. Family of 4 easily spent 70 dollars without eating or drinking anything from there. And the crowds can be challenging. ..

If you visit in the summer...here are my tips: Arrive at the zoo at about 8 AM. Admission is free. You will be able to find street parking for free. Get in line to pet the sting rays first thing. Then take a ride on the Merry Go Round and after that go to the Children's Zoo. These items are all free before 9 AM. (We paid $4 a ticket to see the Sea Lion Show at 10:30. The show was great but we also saw the Sea Lion Feeding at 11:15. It was free to watch the Sea Lion Feeding. My son's comment was that the feeding was almost as good as the show. They had four trainers at the feeding working with different sea lion. The sea lions did tricks while one of the trainers talked. After that eat a picnic lunch. We brought our own lunches. I had each child carry their lunch and a drink in a back pack. You could also bring in your own lunch and put it in a stroller or wagon.

My kids were tired out after we ate lunch. You could easily spend the whole day at this zoo and not see everything. My kids really enjoyed the Gorillas. You could also go to this zoo and not spend a dime. You might want to check out the website to plan one thing to spend money on. The Safari Pass is a good deal...but you can get some of the selections free if you just get there early. When the weather is pretty it is packed and the zoo lots can be full.

We can't wait to check out what is new at the River's Edge next time.
