This zoo is wonderful. Not too big to get lost, nor too small to be bored. The train takes you around the zoo which is great. Enjoyed spending a few hours there. Do visit it, if you have the time!

“Awesome for Free!”
Reviewed May 11, 2014

We showed up a little after 9 am, (when they open) and the roads were packed with people and vehicles all trying to find parking. They have a small lot they charge 15$ to park, or you can park for free on the surrounding streets. It was a bumper to bumper for a mile in any direction as tons of people were pouring into the area. If I were to do it all over again, Id show up around 8:30 to get a good free street parking spot. The zoo itself was awesome and had free stingray exhibit (pet a stingray) only free till 10am. Then it became 4$ per person. So it does pay to get there early! Overall it is a great zoo and its free! Our favorite exhibits were the gorillas, the hippos, and the sea lions. Go check this place out! (but arrive early!)

“What a great zoo. ”
Reviewed May 11, 2014 via mobile

What a fantastic zoo.
Even though it was filled with hundreds of school kids it was so fun.
Loved the train ride, an extra fee.
A free zoo but a lot of extras you can pay for.
Great animal exhibits, lots of walking.
We have been to many zoos, this is on the top of our list. ENJOY. .

“Really good day!”
Reviewed May 11, 2014

While parking is a little steep at $15, admission itself is free. There was a graduation in the area, so finding free parking on the street was not really an option. Not a complaint, only observation. This is a big park, so plan on this being an all-day event.

Arriving early gets you even more. The stingray and shark pool is free until 10 am, as are a few other things. And the animals are active: bears enjoying a pineapple, gorillas running around, elephants showering themselves.

I have been to several zoos (and am a member of Cleveland Metroparks Zoo), and this has to be one of the best I have seen. Lots of exhibits where you can get really close to the animals, and great viewpoints all around. There are a few exhibits where taking the hidden/smaller path gets you an even better view (e.g., hippos).

Food options are really good. Besides the usual burgers, pizza, and popcorn, there are places with salads, fish and chips, and fish tacos. A very welcome change.

It was difficult to figure out a flow to the zoo though. Most you can essentially make one big loop and see everything, but here I retraced my steps a few times. I may have missed a few paths though.

“Best Zoo Around!!!”
Reviewed May 9, 2014

We love this zoo. We live in St. Louis and have been going to the zoo for years. And it is free. There is a fee to park, but there is free street parking. Rivers Edge is wonderful there are Asian elephants, rhinos, hippos, cheetahs and more. The new sea lion sound is a great place to watch the seals and sea lions play. And of course lions, tigers, bears, monkeys, and the list goes on and on. They have a train that takes you all around the zoo for a small fee, you can get off and on at each station. You can bring in your own food or there are many places to have lunch or a snack. Bring yourself and your family and you will see one of the best zoos around! Enjoy.
