“Lots of fun!”

The Sea Lion show was wonderful! And all the different types of animals were exciting. The traffic was a bit tight, but you can expect that in bigger cities like that.

“Great Zoo Overall”
Reviewed December 29, 2013

The zoo is a very nice zoo.. it is a bit difficult to navigate if it is your first time there... the overall visit was nice.. they are making some improvements for a better experience there.. The sea lion tunnel is amazing! There is one young sea lion who is adorable and loves attention... If you are into photography.. she is a great model for you! We had the pleasure of meeting the habitat supervisor of the sea lion exhibit. He was friendly, informative and just a great person. The zoo was clean and well kept. The only bad thing I can say is the parking is a bit crazy. You can pay to park in the lot or park on the street.. My best advice is that if you are going.. get there a bit early and you can park close on the street by the main entrance.. we arrived at 8:15 and were right across from the entrance. If you plan to go later in the day.. you will walk quite a distance to get into the zoo. It became quite crowded around 11:00 and some of the exhibits were difficult to see with all of the people. For the most part everyone took turns and were pleasant. As anywhere, there were those few who were rude, pushy and overall unpleasant to maneuver around or be near. Our experience was a good one and we would go back there.

“So cool!”
Reviewed December 27, 2013

They had so many animals and different sculptors around. There were a lot of little buildings that housed birds, penguins, fish, and tons of other animals. It was a great experience and as I remember, it was free admission!

“Best Zoo?”
Reviewed December 24, 2013

We apparently just had a bad experience at this zoo because everyone else seems to love it. For me, this was the worst zoo I have ever been to, and I've been to quite a few years. It may only be because of the time of the year they are a bit slower, but it literally was awful. The only good thing about this zoo was that it was free. Don't waste your time paying for parking there is free street parking close by. We didn't see over HALF of the animals that our supposedly on exhibit. They were doing work in both the rhino's and hippo's exhibits, and those of course were the things we were most looking forward to seeing. All of the exhibits were grossly muddy and seemed way to small. We didn't see any of the bears, the cheetah, the alligators, or the giraffe among other things. The seals were cool, I'll give them that. They have a tunnel underwater viewing area that is like nothing I've ever seen before. The design of the zoo was poorly executed the layout is very confusing. We were lost almost the entire time. Also they apparently don't have any food or beverage options open in the winter so don't get thirsty. We'll try again in the summer and hope for a better experience.

“A top-notch zoo!”
Reviewed December 23, 2013

My wife and I really enjoyed our visit to the St. Louis Zoo! We saw some really cool animals (some I've never seen before). This is definitely one of the best zoos I've ever been to!

A few things to note: while the zoo is free, parking is $15. However, if you're lucky enough to find parking on the street, you can avoid this fee. Also, navigating this zoo can be a bit tricky. Signage is limited and not very helpful. Be sure to get a map. Finally, we went on a Saturday afternoon in June, and it was packed! This place is not for the crowd-averse.
