the zoo was very clean and nice, especially since it's free! we really enjoyed the hippo exhibit. it is definitely a full day trip! we spent about 6 hours there and only caught the highlights! the train is cool. overall good experience. do be prepared to pay for many of the attractions. we had hoped there would be many places to cool off out of the hot summer sun. there were some misting fans throughout the zoo, but that was it. also, any day at the zoo will include ill-behaved children, however, this day seemed to be over run with them, to the point that it got on my kids (ages 8 & 10) nerves!

It has been several years since I have been to a zoo, but I am glad I went this time. It was very hot and humid and some of the animals were not coming out, but we saw many animals up close and personal. The newer attractions are great. Four adults and we all had fun.

I really like the Zoo in St Louis, it is nicely laid out and well put together with a bunch of fun things to see. The Penguin exhibit is the coolest thing to see, your practically standing right there with them. The Zoo is free, which is nice, however most of the new exhibits they have built cost you money to go into which is bad because the cost adds up quite a bit.

They need to train their staff at the food counters better, we went and ordered some food and the lady just keep giving us a dirty look and acted as she didn't want to be there. Then we changed the order just slightly, nothing major and she rolled her eyes and walked over to the manager. The manager had an attitude problem as well acted like she didn't want to be there either.

First, this is a huge zoo. Don't think you're going to see it in a couple of hours. My wife and I ended up spending seven and only catching the highlights. That was with steady walking through an incredible number of habitats and displays. While I've never been a huge fan of zoos, this FREE state-of-the art park is more than worth the visit. Take a water bottle or small day pack. There's plenty of reasonable food and drink on site too, not the usual price rip-off. If we didn't live four states away, we'd return to this excellent park over and over.

We would have stayed longer than the two hours we were there but the temp. reach 93 by lunch. Very few places to get cool and many ill-behaved children.
