“Beautiful Zoo”
Reviewed March 14, 2013

This zoo is fantastic. It is free to the public. Parking in the lot is $15 but you can get lucky and find street parking. A bottle of water is $3.50 so you may want to bring one with you.

“The Zoo!”
Reviewed March 14, 2013

Great place for a walk, pics, and animals. Be sure to take the RiverWalk and see the underwater hippos and the elephants! Don't miss the new sea lion exhibit either!

“You can't beat free!”
Reviewed March 12, 2013 via mobile

I have been to the San Diego zoo and Omaha's zoo. While they are much better than the STL zoo, they also costmuch more. The STL zoo is completely free and has wonderful exhibits!

“Nice place for a nice leisurely stroll and interesting sights ...”
Reviewed March 12, 2013

Having been spoilt by the amazing zoos back home, it's hard for me to be impressed by other zoos. That said, I still enjoy walking in zoos, and the St. Louis one was a very pleasant experience, undoubtedly. Given that it's free, it's even more amazing because they can upkeep such a nice place without income.

“We love our annual STL Zoo trip!”
Reviewed March 10, 2013

We visit the STL Zoo at least once every year and it gets better and better each time. Every time we visit there is some sort construction going on so that the next time we go there is always something new to see or do! Two trips ago they were building the Sting Ray and Shark section so that the last time we went we were able to view them and pet them! Also, the last time we were there they were building the new sea lion section that has the underwater tunnel. And it's done now so when we went yesterday we were able to go through it. It was awesome! It's not very long, but they don't rush you through it either so you can spend some time following the sea lions that are swimming above you. One of our favorite parts of the zoo is the Penguin and Puffin House... it's a must! We also love the Zooline Railroad ($5 each for 4 stations). There are tunnels that the kids love riding through. It's also handy if you don't want to walk across the zoo. However, if the zoo is busy then the wait for the train might be a little long. We also the the carousel ($3), the motion simulator ($4), and the Caribbean Cove (sting rays -$). The admission to the zoo is free, but the above listed "extras" do cost extra. If your family plans on doing a few of these activities, it is cheaper to buy the Safari Pass for $10. If you park in the zoo parking lots, this also costs and depends upon the season. It's helpful to check the website for current pricing. If you don't want to pay for parking, there is plenty of parallel parking along the roads in Forest Park around the zoo, but you will be walking a little further. We don't mind paying for the extras because all of the proceeds go to taking care of the animals and for conservation efforts. The food is expensive, but you can bring your own if you'd like. The numerous gift shops are awesome!
