Having grown up in Mo, the Arch is something we take for granted. Just played "tourist" in St Louis - plan some time to truly take in the whole experience. We viewed the movie that describes the construction, toured the Lewis and Clark museum and took the ride to the top. Kid friendly, older person friendly - well worth the time.

we didn't book ahead, but arrived at the arch around 10am on thursday morning. the wait for security outside to arch was about 15 minutes, which i thought was pretty good. there was little to no wait inside to get tickets. we did have to wait about an hour for our trip to the top, which was fine b/c there's plenty to see and do inside! everyone was very nice and helpful and full of information. there were plenty of park rangers available for questions at the bottom and the top. after our trip to the top, we took a river boat cruise on the river. again, everyone was very nice and knowledgeable. even though we endured a slight thunderstorm while on the boat, it was a very enjoyable experience! the park around the arch is also beautiful! wonderful experience that i'd recommend to anyone!

Definite tourist attraction, but worth the time and money. Parking is a pain in the area, the ride to the top is not fun if your claustrophobic and it's crowded at the top. But I think the view from the top of the Arch is fantastic and worth it.

We did not book ahead, but rather made sure to be there at approximately 9 am on a Thursday morning. We did not wait in any lines, and we thought the museum exhibits, the ride, the views and facilities were worth our time and effort. The Western Expansion museum is fantastic and worth at least two hours of your time if you enjoy history. The beef jerky from the Levee Mercantile was fantastic, as was the maple fudge. I have seen mention of the small pods to the top of the arch, and they are small, but we were able to fit five people and three small children on laps in one pod for the four minute ride. When we left at 11:30, the lines for everything (including security) were very long. I definitely think this is a national park not to be missed, but go early and avoid the heat and Mississippi River humidity!!
