“Wonderful tradition”
Reviewed November 26, 2013

Attending the Muny is a tradition that has been passed down to many generations. The shows are always well presented. With the addition of the quiet fans for the performances this year, it made things even better.

“A Magnificent Place to Enjoy a Musical”
Reviewed November 25, 2013

The St. Louis Municipal Opera aka The Muny is a fantastic place. Ticket prices aren't cheap, but there are a limited number of free seats, and I've never seen a show I didn't enjoy in our lovely outdoor theater. It's located in Forest Park. Make sure to dress for hot weather and bring plenty of water.

“Alone in it's Greatness”
Reviewed November 25, 2013

I think it's the largest outdoor theatre in the country situated in beautiful Forest Park. It's been in business since the early 1900s
and known for it's excellent Broadway style musicals.

“Outstanding Outdoor Ampitheatre”
Reviewed November 25, 2013

The Muny, short for The Municipal Theatre Association of St. Louis, is an outdoor musical amphitheatre, located in Forest Park, St. Louis, Missouri. The theater seats 11,000 people with approximately 1,500 free seats in the last nine rows that are available on a first come, first served basis. But it's the setting that makes the Muny so unique. With the sounds of Forest Park all around, a starry-sky overhead and two giant oaks growing right up through the stage, it's an ideal way to wile away a summer night.

I have been attending the Muny since I was a teenager. The venues in the 60's and 70's were magnificent. We saw Debbie Reynolds live in "The Unsinkable Molly Brown", Carol Channing in "Hello, Dolly", Bob Hope, Linda Ronstadt and several other stars. We had season tickets for several years.

I attended the Muny this summer. 2013 saw the installation of new state-of-the-art fans, which are so quiet they can be left on during the show, and keeps the air moving. Unlike the noisy fans that were installed in the 1950s, the new fans will operate during performances, not just before and after the show and at intermission. Summer temps can reach 100+ in St. Louis.

Any musical you can name, has been performed at the Muny. There is nothing like sitting under the stars on a warm summer night watching a great show.

“Wonderful”
Reviewed November 25, 2013

The Muny is great to visit to see a show. Can be very hot however after the sun sets you will cool off. Parking can be trying (do to the high amount of cars broken into during the shows) but the city is working very hard to curb crime for all of those attending the Muny, I had one time visited the Muny for six Mondays in the summer because of the great shows.
