First off, the owner is an extremely wonderful host. Upon our visit we were given an amazing tour of the estate, which showcased it's beautiful woodwork and wonderful stained glassed windows. The rooms are massive and all 3 have their uniqueness to them which adds to the beauty of the mansion. The Sweetheart Package was an amazing deal and the meals were just as wonderful. I honestly don't doubt that I'll be making a return to the Shakespeare Chateau in the future.

Room Tip: All the rooms are wonderful and it's honestly very hard to pick just which one to stay in.

We enjoyed our stay at this very historic hideaway in St. Joseph. What an amazing house. The owner was incredibly friendly as well as knowledgable about the history of not only the Chateau but also of the history of St. Joseph. Make sure you ask for a list of historic homes and check them all out.

The Shakespeare Chateau was a wonderful weekend getaway! I would highly recommend the sweetheart special. We stayed in the Verona suite and it was simply beautiful, the house is absolutely a historic fairy tale! The owner was extremely nice, welcoming, accommodating, and her cooking was excellent. If you appreciate exquisite architecture and historic beauty the Shakespeare Chateau is the place to be!

The Shakespeare Chateau was the high high point of our trip to St. Joseph. Isobel treated us like long lost friends and couldn’t have made us feel more welcome in her home if she tried. Thanks to Isobel the Mansion has been restored to its former glory. The stained glass windows are truly amazing and it is hard to take your eyes off of them. The light fixtures and carved cherry staircase, ceramic fire places will transport you back in time. The location is great and we spent hours walking around town in awe of the rich history of St. Joseph. The rooms were very comfortable and will be planning to come back soon.

Room Tip: The Romeo and Juliet has the sitting room and tub

Thanks, Mary! Great to meet you and your family. I'm so pleased you loved the stained glass - come back soon to see the six windows that have been newly restored and returned to the mansion. The Shakespeare Chateau was pleased to have you visit!

Did not stay there but took a tour of the home. It was lovely, had exquisite details and charm. The amenities were modern and top of the line. The stained glass windows were stunning but the fireplaces were my favorite. They were each unique and each had absolutely beautiful, one of a kind tile. Recommend this spot!

We stayed at The Shakespeare Chateau this weekend. The architecture in this mansion is incredible. The foyer is fascinating and you have to keep looking to find all the hidden treasures in this room. From Shakespeare face on the fireplace, to the dragons on the staircase and the 47 stained glass windows this place is awesome. It’s like eye candy and you can’t stop looking. My favorite pieces are the long stained glass windows on the floor with the bedrooms. The stained glass windows of night and day. I sat on the fainting couch and admired the sun shining through these windows. It was so serene! We stayed in the Romeo and Juliet room. This room is huge with a jacuzzi in it and another room attached. I loved the jacuzzi and so did my granddaughter. Waking up to the sun shining in the stained glass windows in the room was warming and our breakfast was delicious. Isobel showed us around and was very knowledgeable of the history of the mansion and attractions around town. We thank you Isobel for the best hospitality ever! Kevin, LuAnn & Brooklyn

Room Tip: The Romeo and Juliet room is the best, but the other rooms are just as inviting and beautiful!

When you first walk in into the foyer, you're immediately in awe of the beautiful cherry wood and ceramic fireplace. The twin dragons on the stairwell are phenomenal. The entire house is nothing short of amazing!
