We have an Ameristar Casino in our hometown, Kansas City, and we enjoy eating at Pearl's Oyster Bar. So when we were looking for a place to have dinner on our first night in St. Charles, we took the hotel shuttle to the Ameristar, to have dinner at Pearl's. We wish we had not bothered. It does not compare to Pearl's at the KC Ameristar. The service was very slow. We ordered drinks and it took quite a long time for them to arrive. My husband was given a long teaspoon to eat his bouillabaise. We had to flag someone down to get a decent sized spoon and a plate for used shells. The dish was very spicy, more like gumbo. The doorman on the bar entrance was miserable and unhelpful and pretty useless when asked questions about the entertainment.
If you are in St. Charles, go downtown to eat at one of the restaurants in the historic area.
