“Only choice in Rolla”
Reviewed January 6, 2011

This is the nicest hotel in Rolla by far - clean, new, well decorated rooms, pool and whirlpool, gym, decent breakfast, free wifi and business center. But the management and staff stand out. They are friendly and go above and beyond the call of duty to help guests. It's a very pleasant place to stay whether you're visiting Rolla itself or are just passing through on I-44.

This is the second time we have stayed here. It is a newer hotel, and a very nice one. Very clean. Good breakfast. Good staff. Large king bed room size. In-room wi-fi instructions inadequate. We called the 800 number for help at 7pm and were told by a recording that the offices were closed. Two other drawbacks: At $99 for a single in the middle of Missouri, too expensive? (Be sure to ask for a senior rate $94 if you quality.) At $80-$85, this would be one of the best places we would ever stay. Also, the water pipes in the walls are very noisy above and beside you. Just hope your next door neighbor doesnt take frequent showers or potty breaks.

I ended up staying here as a last minute decision to keep me from driving all night. The staff was very friendly and the propery appeared to be new. The room was comfortable and was clean for the most part. Some areas not used much (like shelves in the bathroom) had a small layer of dust in them. Other than that, the tv was a flat screen hdtv with cable so there were plenty of channels to watch. The wireless internet was fast and due to my late arrival, I chose to have a snack from the vending machines on the property and they were priced decently, 1.00 for snack and 1.50 for a bottle of soda. The room was fairly quiet. The hotel had just a few customers and there were some rumbles of thunder that were heard during the night. It appeared as if the sound traveled through the wall a bit more that most placed that I have stayed. In the morning I ate the continental breakfast and I thought it was good. Heck if you want a really good breakfast, go to Shoneys and spend money. For free though, I had eggs, biscuits with sausage gravy, sausage patties, and cinnamon rolls. I thought it all was good. There were other items as well. I did not use the pool facility but it was indoor. I would stay here again.

The room was very nice. the sheets were clean and crisp. The over all room was very nice. 2 downsides is that we were in the first floor are we can here the side exit open and shut all the time. We can also here the next room. The breakfast was also a disappointment.

The Holiday Inn Express in Rolla is just conveniently located right off of I-44 and offers exceptional comfort for an affordable price. The morning breakfast of eggs, biscuits and gravy, and bacon is outstanding. The hotel also has a lovely hot tub and indoor pool that is perfect for families with children. I would highly recommend this hotel.

If you read my other reviews, you'll notice that this stay was part of a 3600 mile 8 day road trip to bring my daughter to school in Tulsa. Quite simply: this was the best hotel stay on that trip which included another HI Express, La Quinta, Hampton Inn, and Drury among others in the same price range.

This hotel is on a service road and as such, was a bit tricky to find. But once we did, it was clear it was worth the trouble: the hotel looked to be brand-new. The decor was contemporary and virtually without wear. The room was very clean and the bedding was top notch, a welcome experience after 14 hours of driving. The bathroom was large, clean and nicely decorated. The free wi-fi was typical for every hotel on this trip: s-l-o-w, but (nearly) sufficient for what i needed to do.

There was a nice oversized sofa and chairs with a flat panel TV in the lobby area, great for conversation if you wanted to get out of the room.

The breakfast area was outstanding with a large variety of hot & cold selections (the cinnamon rolls are a must) and included fresh fruit and yogurt along with sausage & gravy for the more adventurous.

Vending machines were conveniently placed and there were common-area restrooms should you need them.

We didn't use the pool, but it looked like fun, though not overly large, as it was loaded with kids. Smallish fitness room with the basics, again, all new and without wear.

The only really negative thing I have to say was that we stayed on a busy night, were late arrivals and as a result, got stuck parking on the right side of the building which is under-lit and has virtually no traffic to deter would-be thieves as the parking lot dead-ends on that side so there's no reason for anyone to go over there. Not a deal-breaker by any means, but with a carload of gear headed to the Freshman dorm in Tulsa, I was cautious about where I parked. In the end, there were no issues, so 5 stars it is. Can't go wrong here.
