Really a nice small Theater where you feel like your part of the cast, not sure how many it seats but there is not bad seat in the house. The local talent puts their heart and soul in every performance and they work very hard to give you a great show. We have attended several times and always came out feeling like we just saw a Broadway play. Prices are very reasonable and the room is very nice, older but kept up well with comfortable seating.

“Ozark Actors Theater”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 25, 2013

I've lived in and out of Rolla for years and had been aware of OAT but never went to any of the plays until this year. My new girlfriend is into plays and wanted to go see Into the Woods. I reluctantly went along but ended up enjoying the play. This was in August. We have seen Tom Sawyer, Charlotte's Web and The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. All have been very good and entertaining. Maybe not up to the quality of the Muny in St. Louis, but very good for this area.
I wish 411John411 had not tried to describe the areas of the former church, as he has no idea what he's talking about. The ticket office is in what was the rear of the sanctuary, the stage is where the pulpit, choir loft and baptistery were located and the balcony was just that, the balcony for congregational seating. I know, because I grew up in First Baptist Church (it's original use) from birth thru mid teens, the latter being something like 50 years ago.

“An Oasis of Entertainment”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 29, 2013

Ozark Actors Theatre brings out the best of the central Ozarks. The local talent is fresh and vibrant and accented with a smattering of imported professional performers. Ozark Actors Theatre (OAT) resides in a charming former church that has handicap accessability and is known as the Cedar Street Playhouse. Hospitality abounds as evident from the delightful box office lady with a genuine British accent to the homemade cookies often available at the concessions counter during intermission.

Perfomances are not limited to OAT presentations. The Cedar Street Playhouse is regularly contracted by Fine Linen Drama, another local performance company that has dared to do dynamic presentations recently released from Broadway such as A Tale of Two Cities (2012) and more. Both Fine Linen Drama and OAT have used live music and orchestras for musical performances. Into the Woods will close the 2013 summer season with 2 live keyboardist compounding the entertainment for this Stephen Sondheim treasure trove of fairy tale mayhem. Local talent with professional quality is evident in the creative sets and dazzling costuming. Even if the acting may miss a cue the costumes will not. Sit back and enjoy. Charming and professional, local and metropolitan, Cedar Street Playhouse has it all. All told, the stage of this Cedar Street Playhouse sparkles with the best music and muses of the Central Ozarks, an experience well worth the drive.

“Great small-town theater!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 5, 2013

The summer season (2013 is Season 26) is done with a mix of Actors Equity and local cast. Typically there's a holiday show as well. The rest of the year has been kind of hit and miss, with more miss than hit. It's a shame that this venue is so underutilized!

It's a former church, with the box office in what was the Narthex, seating in what was the Nave, and the stage where the Chancel/Altar would have been. Seats are typical theater seats (no pews, sorry!). There's limited seating in the choir loft, as well. Sight lines are good, acoustics are good, and due to its size (there are seats and wheelchair spots for just around 200 patrons).

Check the website for current performance schedule. Online ticketing is available.
