We actually brought a party of six to the School House B&B, and all six of us enjoyed the stay very much. My husband and I were in a hideaway room downstairs, which was quiet and cozy. Mike and Lisa went out of their way to help us serve birthday cake to our son, who had just graduated from college, even to providing birthday napkins! We sat in the common room and had cake and visited, and it was the pleasantest part of the weekend. We haven't been to hundreds of B&Bs, but we've been to a number, and this is our favorite yet. The town is also quiet and pleasant.

We never thought going back to school could be so relaxing. We came to Rocheport for a wedding and had a day to kill. Mike and Lisa, owners, were extremely knowledgeable on activities, sights to see and places to eat. They even made a a tasty breakfast. The stuffed french toast with mixed berries was absolutely divine. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting an enjoyable weekend visiting the local vineyard or outdoors on the Katy Trail.

We stayed at the School House as part of a bike trip on the Katy Trail. It so happened that we were the only ones there at the time, so we had the place to ourselves. Mike and Lisa were friendly and gracious hosts without intruding on our privacy. They didn't skimp, even though there were only two of us there... we enjoyed cookies and ice tea in the afternoons and tasty breakfasts prepared by Mike in the mornings (along with interesting, intelligent conversations). We were impressed with the cleanliness and the good maintenance of our room and the common areas. We didn't see any chips in the woodwork, scuffs in the paint, or dust on the furniture - and that's not always easy to achieve in an older building! The decorating is lovely and very tasteful, and the rooms are bright and sunny. The Katy Trail is only a few blocks away and easy to get to. There's a shed out back in the garden for bikes, too. We had never been to a B&B before and weren't quite sure what to expect, but we were very satisfied.

We decided on a last minute getaway to celebrate my husband's birthday and wanted to try our first bed and breakfast experience. Since we are both cyclists, the idea of the Katy Trail right down the street made it more appealing. There's also a winery close by too. We had heard from friends that the Schoolhouse was an ideal place. It had been Rocheport's main school building from 1914 through 1972 so there was a lot of history attached to it..As a teacher myself it was fun to imagine the idea of children roaming the halls years ago. The owners welcomed us immediately when we arrived. They showed us to our room which was gorgeous! It had a jetted tub for two. a tall armoire with large mirror, and a beautifully decorated king bed. We were able to store our bikes in their shed and use them as needed. We ate dinner at a restaurant overlooking the Missouri River which was breathtaking. The next morning we were served a delicious homemade breakfast. Overall we were very pleased and would definitely recommend this as a place to stay.

We stayed at the School House B&B for 2 nights and what an unexpected pleasure. The rooms were well appointed, the breakfasts superb and the ambience outstanding. We've stayed at other good B&Bs before, but none could come close to the refined good taste of this one. The owners, Mike and Lisa, are very engaging and will instantly make you feel at home. The common area is next to the spacious dining room and is most comfortable with many easy chairs and a fireplace. One feels a kind of ski lodge effect sitting in this room which I found appealing. Our room had 2 comfortable chairs surrounding a fireplace that we used to watch movies on the flat screen TV mounted on the wall. All in all, a very positive experience.

i've stayed at the school house b&b several times in the past year and each time i never want to leave! it's the perfect getaway to destress - it's a very unusual setting in a cool old brick school and everything is top notch. the rooms are spacious and well-appointed, the food is wonderful, and the hosts are most gracious!

rocheport is far enough away to leave the world behind and close enough to get there easily - quick trip to nearby columbia, shopping, the winery, restaurants.

ok, now i want to go back again!

When you check into the School House Inn, you are greeted by the friendly proprietors, Lisa and Mike. They offer you a delicious home-baked peanutbutter chocolate chip cookie and immediately, you feel at home. The rooms are charming, comfortable, and spotlessly clean. The beds are wonderfully warm and soft; rarely have I had such good nights sleep in a commercial establishment.

Fresh brewed coffee is available at 7:00 am and breakfast is served promptly at 9:00 am....and such heavenly breakfasts. You MUST try the signature stuffed French toast topped with blueberries or the spinach egg casserole.

Rocheport is a charming town, with a thriving winery (with wine delicious enough to delight this wine snob) and world class restaurants. In all, I had a spectacular visit, and left feeling relaxed and energized. What a way to start 2010!!
