Probably the nicest Bluegreen resort we have ever stayed in. At least 6 outdoor pools, an indoor pool, a water slide, several hot tubs and a lazy river. Mini golf, tennis, beach volleyball, basketball, giant chess and checkers set, horseback riding, carriage rides, onsite restaurants and a spa and complimentary canoes and paddle boats! The resort is so large that they provide free shuttle service.

Went to Big Cedar for a dental conference--which was excellent. Room was around $225/night right across from the conference center--which was great since it rained the entire four days. The room was old and dirty--and not cleaning product dirty--like need to tear out the carpet and redo drywall. Could barely sleep with noise of people above us--they were not trying to be loud--the ceiling just isn't what I like to call "sturdy". It sounded like elephants above us. The room was covered in loose goose feathers--everything is feathers--pillows, bed spread, and mattress pad. I am horribly allergic--as are alot of people--no "feather free rooms or pads available". We took off the feather mess, and the bed as grossly stained and disgusting. It was as hard a a rock without the pad--except for the place in the middle where the spring had rubbed through--we wrapped that in duct tape to avoid further blood spillage. Bathroom had spiders in tub and a roach in the sink when we arrived--all very alive. Bathtub had jets, and when turned on--black gunk and dead bugs shot out of the plumbing. It sucked royally. Was embarrassed that this was our room and couldn't believe it usually was $350/night. Beautiful landscaping--next time might just bring a tent and sleep on the deck--since unfortunately I will have to return since that conference was excellent and held annually there.

My family and I have been going to the Wilderness Club at Big Cedar in Branson now for about 4 years. I believe we have visited 3 or 4 times. The Club keeps expanding and getting better everytime we go. The original Big Cedar Resort was founded by the Bass Pro founder and is quite a resort in itself. The Wilderness Club is a time-share venture that you can stay out and utiize both facilities. The resort has several eating places, a lazy river, several pools, horseback riding, boating, miniature golf and more. It is very easy for children (and adults) of all ages to find something to do, or just relax. The resort is in the beautiful Ozark Mountains and has Branson just 10 minutes away for many other things to do. The units all have cooking facilities so you can stop by the Harter House in Hollister (about 8 miles away) and pick up groceries. The marina also has a decent supply of groceries to choose from if you forget something or don't want to drive the short distance.

The grounds are incredible. You can drive over a small waterfall bridge (yes your car will get wet) on your way to the resort check-in. We stayed in 2 units, both 1 bedroom with full kitchens. The wilderness theme is carried nicely throughout the resort. Furnishings are quality and fairly upscale while being casual at the same time. Our balcony overlooked table rock lake...oh the sunsets! The pool and lazy river were enjoyed by all. Fishing competitions, tennis, and horse riding were fun. Paddleboats are provided to tour the lake. Be sure to go to Dogwood Canyon for an unforgettable day- it's 2200 acres of water, hiking, bike trails, horseback riding and pure beauty. Big Cedar's restaurants are good, and the resort shuttle service is very reliable. Can't wait to return.
CON: Yes, it's a timeshare. No daily maid service unless you pay a fee. Skip the tour.
PRO: In addition to all the stuff above, The cookies every evening rock!

This is a must if staying in or near Branson. Beautiful grounds, lots of recreation, fishing, boating, kids activities and yummy food. Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays are the best times to go. It's all festive...
