“Who knew camping in February could be so cool”

Valentines Day in the spacious 2 bedroom cabin with a fireplace blazing. It just doesn't get much better than that. The lodge is so very helpful, from check-in to all the way through the weekend. Having failed to get my merit badge from the Boy Scouts for fire building, the maintenance department even dropped off fire starters for me to use. So many events offered, even in the middle of winter with snow on the ground. We attended a poetry writing seminar, went on a winery tour, just enjoyed driving around the grounds. On Saturday night, there was a dinner with white tablecloths and placement cards. These guys really did a great job with the dinner. Cabin rates vary depending on the season. Ours was secluded, up near the top of the hill and was priced at $200 per night. Considering meals are included and if you wanted to, there is 2 bedrooms, with additional bunk beds (yippee!) and roll-a-way beds for a total of 10 sleeping places. Bring friends and family and the cost is even less. We plan to return in the summer for more events. Oh, nearly forgot. The winery has a program called 'Grape Friends' where you can come to the vineyards and help them harvest their grapes. They feed you and they get their grapes picked. Kinda like a Tom Sawyer deal, but sounds like so much fun. That's definitely on our to-do list for this fall. Go to EDG-CLIF web site to find out about this event.

Room Tip: We were in 4302, (the 02 signifies 2nd story), that's near the top of the hill. These cabins are...

We stayed just 1 night but you are encouraged to come early before checking in and to stay beyond checkout to enjoy all the activities they offer. We arrived around 11:00 am and our room was available so we were able to check in and enjoy a days worth of fun. My son had a super time as well as his momma and dad!!!

We have been staying at trout lodge for 10 years now. It never gets boring.
Make sure to book your extra activities the week before you arrive. Activities book up quickly.
Try to visit on off peak times when kids are free. You can't beat getting a room for 100 bucks and feeding the whole family 3 meals. Just keep checking back for specials.
All the special holiday weekends are fun. Easter, thanksgiving, Halloween, New Years!
Pines peak and pine zip are scheduled one after another and are located at the same place. Sign up for both.
The lodging is not fancy. It's basic and clean. But far from a 5 star hotel.
The food has never disappointed us. It's not fancy either. But you won't be hungry.
There are no TVs in the rooms. So , bring board games.
No cell service for Verizon.
The staff are always polite and helpful.
My 15 year old and 12 year old still get excited for our weekends here.

I did a lot of activities that I have never had and all of these were very funny. All the stuff is very helpful. I had shotgun for the first time with this very good instructor (I think his name is Massimo), he was Italian and he came at dinner with us and he told us about his country.
The lake is amazing, you can take the canoe or the kayak (free) and going around.
Our house was very comfortable.
I hope I will come again in this beautiful place.

Our extended family of 18 spent 3 nights at Trout Lodge at the YMCA of the Ozarks. Our ages ranged from 10 months-65. We rented both sides of one of the lake view family cabins which worked perfectly. There were two doors inside which could be opened between the 2 units so everyone had access to both units. All of our meals were included in the price and our grandkids were never hungry. The mini golf just across the street from our cabins was a major hit with our grandkids. The two 7 y.o. passed the swimming test so could use the rope swing that drops them into the lake. They loved it! Several adults tried paddle boards for the first time while others in our group used funyaks and canoes. There are many activities included in the room price and we didn't do many activities that had charges. We did pay for some of us to do the zip lines, alpine swing, and rock wall. Their favorite was the moonlight alpine swing which is done at 9 pm. After being harnessed and raised to 35 feet you let go and then start swinging back and forth. Our youngest was 13 and the oldest was 63. If we go back, this will probably be the only activity with a cost that we will do. It rained one day so some of the kids made a ceramic project (there are lots to pick from with varying prices). The staff are all friendly and many of them are international students. The YMCA encourages activity and the grandkids loved getting the pins to put on their sheet when they finished the activities. We live less than 5 hours from this YMCA but I had never heard of it. I think it must be a best kept secret. I had only heard of the YMCA of the Rockies but I can't imagine that it could be any better than the YMCA of the Ozarks-----and a much closer drive for us.

Room Tip: If you have a group, reserve both sides of the family cabin. It gives everyone their own space but...

I spent 2 nights at the YMCA Trout Lodge this last weekend with my wife's side of the family. My wife and I live in Italy (she is from St.Peters, MO and I'm Italian) but we often come to visit the family here in the US.
The Trout Lodge is an ideal location for families with children in the summer and also a good place for a conference throughout the year.
There is a long list of activities you can do: swimming in the lake, fishing, playing minigolf, shuffleboard, archery, face painting, crafts, horseriding, etc... and most of them are completely free. The staff is well prepared, organized, kind and funny. Most of the people in staff were from other countries (UK, Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, Spain, Italy, etc...).
The food was good and varied. The rooms are nice and quaint, each room has a little balcony/porch overviewing the lake.
What I really enjoyed about YMCA Trout Lodge is the fact that, even though there were a lot of people, we didn't feel like the place was overcrowded and we never had to wait in line in order to do any of the activities (which can be very frustrating).
The only "negative" aspect is that some of the gear was defective (i.e., the bows we used for archery had some broken parts, the battery for the motor of one of our jon boats stopped working all of a sudden) but that is completely understandable if you consider the fact that hundreds of people use this stuff every week.
I definitely hope we can go again in the future. In three days we were only able to do a third of the scheduled activities and there is a lot more we would like to do
