We visited the Lake of the Ozarks during the shootout and stayed in a small resort across the cove. We had a blast listening to the band, watching the action and the beautiful boats easing in to this lakeside bar/restaurant prior to the poker run the night before and morning of.
After the poker run on a Friday evening, we arrived by boat and took advantage of one of the numerous courtesy slips available. The place was packed with a fun loving crowd and the band was good, keeping the revelers dancing. Our party of 3 had a 45 minute wait for a table, but enjoyed the time browsing the gift shop and people/boat watching. No problem getting a beer..the bars and bartenders were plentiful, friendly and quick.
Our food, jalapeno poppers, chicken wings, seafood pasta florentine, roast beef wrap and fried potato salad were huge portions and very good. Waitress was young, cute and very attentive considering they were getting slammed with an overwhelming crowd. Prices were high but typical for the area and time of year.
We had a great time at Backwater Jack's at mile marker 171/2 on the lake and would certainly recommend as a fun stop. Would not be family friendly during busy times as the crowds can get pretty rowdy!
