“Friendly Hotel and Casino”
Reviewed September 1, 2013

I just spent 5 nights there for a business trip and found the staff from the casino to the front desk to the valet, friendly, helpful and always smiling. My room was very nice, well maintained but my business partner was put on the smoking floor as they were sold out when he checked in. The room had problems, no desk etc. He was switched the next morning and had a great room
The food was ok. the buffet was a bit disorganized and because of the shrimp night on Friday and Saturday at dinner the line was down the hall. The sports bar was fun, staff friendly and found out it was not owned by the hotel, the food was good.

As we headed down the hall to our room there were huge dirty areas all over the carpet. I am not talking about a recent spill, these were ground in and disgusting. It made a very poor first impression.
The room was good sized but the décor is tired and dated. The bed was decent and the bathroom was nicer than the bedroom area. However, after seeing the hallway I was uncomfortable about how clean the room really was.
On the plus side, the Harrah's Casino and Hotel staff was friendly and nice.

My husband and I stayed here on a whim on our way back to Springfield, MO from Nebraska. We are Rewards Card members and were able to get a king-sized room on a Sunday evening for ~ $50! So that, in itself, is a great deal, IMO. Definitely check on the Harrah's/Caesar's Rewards Card website before you go and book through there to find specials - it was about $25 - $30 cheaper than on Priceline. Our king-sized room was nice, clean, huge bathtub, nice marble counters, and the staff were very friendly. Everyone you met in the hallway smiled and said "hi". The bed was hard, which I don't like - my husband said it was comfortable. It was a quiet evening when we were there, but you can still hear the loud toilets flushing from floors above/around you - kind of obnoxious. We ate the buffet at dinner on Sunday and for breakfast on Monday - again, use the Rewards card. Both meals were pretty good, just the normal buffet fare. If you stay here, it's removed from other areas of town, so you'd have to drive a distance to go to other places to eat dinner. The casino is nice, not too smoky. We definitely did not have any luck on the slots, but hey it got us $5 off of our breakfast that next morning - and we aren't big gamblers ($20 is pushing it for us). I'd say that overall, this is a 3 1/2 star hotel. Would be nice if it had a pool/hot tub/spa. If you go with kids there wouldn't be anything for the kids to do. If you have to stay for more than an evening, you'd get bored if you were hoping for the hotel to entertain you without leaving. I did appreciate the friendly staff and clean room.

Stayed one night on our way home from AZ. Good sized room for a suite. VERY comfortable bed. Best buffet ever (6 soup choices!) & 4 soft serve ice cream choices! Friendly staff plenty of parking and a two story casino. Smelled clean and was clean! Would stay again.

Stayed one night on our way back home from our road trip. Got in late and front desk wasn't too cheerful. Rooms were very clean but beds weren't queens like we reserved so we all had to cram into small beds. Buffett was nice, good choices! Not bad but I will choose someplace else next time!

We had a 1 night stay on a Monday with 2 young kids. Got the room with 2 full beds. We had to pay $15 for an early check-in which was fine because we were tired. However it bites when you do that, and then walk in to a room with dirty coffee cups and an uncleaned shower. Also free wi-fi and a microwave is typically pretty standard now-a-days in rooms with this rate but none here. The buffet had your typical casino standard fare except hubby was really looking forward to the prime rib but turned out it was smoked which is understandable (being KC ....) but not the best idea when it's the only red meat item and the smoke smell permeated our clothes and everything else even though we left it on our plates! Other food - seafood and salad etc. was good. Before dinner we wanted to have a drink and thought we'd buy a bottle of hard liquor that we could use over the rest of our vacation but at $175 (yes $175) for a 750 ml of Skyy Vodka, we high-tailed it to the QT which is a quick drive. No other experience with anything else. We checked out early the next day so we wouldn't find anything else to disappoint us. We felt Harrah's is banking on it's reputation in other cities which is decent for the most part. We may not have 'earned' the VIP rooms because we didn't gamble but we still paid a good price for our room and should be accorded cleanliness and basic amenities. We haven't checked our automated bill yet - hopefully there won't be any surprises like others have noted. We won't be back.
