We had a party of nearly 40 people. The food was lovely and so was the service. The whole evening ran very smoothly, with Pimms in the garden on arrival and a lovely presented dining room in the evening.

We were a group of 10 going for Sunday Lunch. Parking was a bit limited - parking on street was fairly easy to find. Had to wait to order. As food is freshly cooked there was an expected delay. Meals arrived together and were nice and hot with generous portions of meat. Chef kindly cooked my beef so not rare. Plenty of vegetables although carrots slightly al dente, still appetising. Waitress very helpful. We were not rushed and enjoyed a good meal with time to chat. Tables nicely spaced out and the toilets were very clean. Would recommend this as great for all ages and reasonably priced. Nice quiet location with garden. Strongly suggest booking in advance to avoid disappointment.

Have just been to The George for last minute Sunday lunch. Arrived at 1.45, 30 mins before our booked table but drinks order taken at bar and told to be seated. Drinks took over 20 mins, ordered food dead on 2.15 (waitress said she was waiting for 2.15 to be able to take our order). Starter arrived 40 mins after order taken. Nice but not worth the £7 for it. Menu limited to roasts and a few extras which should in theory help the speed of food delivery but sadly not the case.
Roast pork very nice, roasties reheated and horrid, veg sitting in a bowl of water and my sons hamburger was vile being rubbery and just awful. Service was slow in every respect, no real apology or explanation for delay. At 3.50pm the bar was clear and my husband asked for the bill. At 4.15 we had moved to the bar to ask for the bill again. The lady who was sorting out our bill had been given an ice cream by the chef, her excuse for not issuing us our bill was because she didn't want her ice cream to melt.........so terribly disappointing. As for the lady who was stuffing her face with an icecream after such a terrible service, I just hope she's not the landlady. Try local alternatives before The George.

We were told that The George was a good place to have dinner by our hosts in the Palace House Farm guest house and they were correct.
The pub was built in the 1500's and has retained that olde world feel, while working as an efficient modern enterprise.
The staff were great and very friendly, happy to explain a bit of the history of the place.
The dinner was wonderful I had a chicken and mushroom pie which was both tasty and very filling. The menu was broad enough to cater for most tasted.
The whole feel of the place was great we stayed for a few hours and really felt part of the environment rather than outsiders watching on
A great night with great food
