A great place to stay in Lawrence, felt very welcome and lovely breakfast! Nice clean room, with attaching shower in a house full with character. Would be lovely in any weather, we had warm and cool days.

Just on the out skirts of Lawrence, I had a choice of a room in the main house or in a separate unit - and reasonable charge for a single traveller. Clean, warm, comfortable and wonderful hosts. I'd strongly recommend Marama Lodge.

We are staying in the Church which has been moved 20 kms on to its present site as part of the Marama Lodge complex. We booked for our stay in Lawrence at the start of our first day cycling on the Clutha Gold Trail.

The Church is perfect - the pulpit/lecturn is still in place, with a huge old bible open as if ready to read.  I idly move the open pages to the first Good Friday story.   That and the chocolate Easter eggs we have brought are our nods to Easter celebrations this year.

Antique furniture is dotted around the room - still allowing a large open church like space.  A lovely small kitchen is well stocked for breakfast, including fresh eggs which we will cook up to take on our cycle ride to Millers Flat tomorrow.

An accessible bathroom is accessed via a beautiful wooden door, and the old entrance to the church is perfect as a small dressing room.  The concessions to modern life are a TV, a heat pump and a Nespresso machine.

My bag is set out under the pulpit, and I like the juxtaposition - spirituality is a journey for me.  Exploring the unknowns of the inner and outer worlds that we inhabit and which inhabit us. Opening to new experiences and challenges along the way.

Our host... Kindly offers to drive with us to Millers Flat where we are heading tomorrow, and to bring us home ready for our ride. Sounds good to me, I was planning to hitch hike :)

Room tip: Stay in the Church!

Oh how we loved staying here, and cannot wait to return. We booked into the Church and what an idylic spot in the middle of the field with glorious big trees. Accommodation was very well appointed. A real home away from home with everything you could need. Comfortable bed. Warm. An unique but wonderful building. Hosts were simply amazing. So welcoming and friendly, while respecting personal space. Ten out of ten. Cannot fault at all. Just perfect.

We have stayed here twice. December 2015 /January 2016 and January 2017.
The owners are very friendly and helpful.
On both occasions, we stayed in the Chapel, which is lovely (Highly recommend for couples) but on both occasions we had our child with us, the second time, we had other family members with us who stayed in the County Cottage Units, Lodge and Chapel.
Everything is so clean.
There is so much to do in Lawrence and surrounding areas, The walks are lovely for all ages.
We will be coming here again.

Room tip: All depends how many of you there are. The Chapel is highly recommended for a couple, who want that romantic stay.
