expensive food/miniature portions, sour-faced staff, the whole place smells of mould, dated, pets not allowed not even in courtyard... never again.

Coffee was well made and fairly strong. Had a bit of a bitter after taste..maybe the beans were a bit old...but still worth stopping for as there are a lot of really bad coffees on the highway. Museum is interesting. Nice cherry pie too.

What a lovely spot. With limited options for food after leaving Grafton until reaching Tweed Heads without turning off the Hway this is your spot to stop. It is a spacious venue with beautiful gardens and outdoor seating. There is a pavillion and museum that is in honour of the Italian settlement over 200 years ago marking the significance of the venue. Best of all it is FREE to enter and I spend a great deal of time looking and reading the history. Each time I can see the quaility changes that have been made to the museum and pavillion to make it more appealing and inviting. Recently a gift shop has been added to the complex where you can find all sorts of local made products that represent the venue, the people and the area as well as lots of Italian products. It is run by volunteers which doesnt assure regular hours however there is the website and a phone number to ring if you are making a special trip. NOW the cafe...It has a great homely feel when you enter with lots of local produce for sale and friendly inviting staff. The staff always are helpful and go out of their way to make me feel welcome and satisfied. The lunch menu has a huge range from your hamburgers and breakfast to lovely homemade pasta sauces. Out the front of the complex is a glass art gallery where you can look at the amazing talent of the glass man and see many other glass artists work and also other talented artists work.

I do sound like a sales rep but I am a dedicated customer and really enjoy visiting the cafe!

It is great that there are alternatives to the fast food dross served up at various spots along the Pacific Highway. New Italy Cafe provides such an opportunity. We were perfectly happy to sit in the cool and leafy outdoor area while our bacon and egg breakfast was prepared. Food was good and service friendly and relaxed. The whole complex with museum, restrooms and gardens was spotless. Will definitely make this a regular stop.

The place looked inviting with nice gardens and surroundings however the food let us down. My husband ordered a club sandwich however he was told it would be a 20 minute wait - too long. I ordered a quiche which proved to be a brightly yellow coloured very tasteless meal. Also there were noticeboards advertising the glass artwork shop was open which my mum went to look at however was disappointed to find it was closed! We will not be visiting again.
