Sleep Inn & Suites and Indoor Water Park

Reviewed August 27, 2012

We spent one night here when passing through. The waterpark is probably a nice treat for those traveling with small children, our 11yr old was not interested. Room decor was updated and attractive The shower was strange and had no shelving except the soap dish. Spitball stuck to the bathroom ceiling and shoe/luggage marks on nearly every wall.

Sleep Inn lives up to its name at this new hotel! We found the hotel very quiet (in spite of being located off of a freeway and a hotel full of kids) and the bed was the most comfortable hotel bed either one of us ever slept in. We had the first night already reserved and paid for as a way to reduce the price of a Saturday night stay (savings tip: sign up for the Choice Privileges card before making an online reservation, then pay in advance--we saved $15 extra by doing this). The room was very, very clean and tastefully decorated, as nice as many more-expensive resort hotels we've stayed at. There were a lot of light fixtures in the room and plenty of light if you wanted it. The bathroom was clean and all plumbing, etc., worked fine. Keep in mind that you will have a mini-fridge and microwave in the room, so if you're traveling on a budget, those extras can help you reduce expenses quite a bit.

Three things really impressed us--how quiet the room was, the comfortable bed, and what they advertise as a "hot continental breakfast" that actually included cooked scrambled eggs, sausage links with gravy and biscuits, and a make-your-own-waffle bar. We didn't expect the breakfast being so full and that was what convinced us to book a second stay within the same trip (tip: the tables in the breakfast room fills up quickly so we took our food back up to the room, like many other people were doing).

When we returned for the second stay, we were put into a handicapped room where there was a Roman shower instead of the tub-shower combination. We liked the Roman shower better, again, extremely clean room. The room was directly across from the ice machine/vending machines and we could barely hear it through our closed room door, although the ice machine was quite loud when you opened the door into the hallway.

Parking is free and plentiful. As mentioned earlier, a lot of families/kids/sports teams stayed at the hotel when we were there. We never heard any of them when we were in either room. FYI, there's only one elevator serving all 3 floors so in the morning when people are checking out, the housekeeping bins are moving between floors, etc., the elevator was a little slow because it was so full. Also FYI, housekeeping knocked on our door before 9 am one of the mornings, so make sure you put out the do not disturb door hanger the night before if you won't be ready early.

We never tried out the pool or "water park" for a few reasons--the water slide wasn't what we expected (it was a slide alright, but just ended at the bottom instead of dropping in the pool) and one of us was over the weight limit. Since we're from Florida, we can swim in regular pools/hot tubs any time, so the rest of the "water park" wasn't a novelty for us. The hotel seems geared toward families with children, especially the "water park".

In general, the staff was very friendly and helpful, although when we had an arrival around 10:30/10:45 pm on a weeknight there was no one at the front desk and it took about 15 minutes for us and another guest to track down the evening manager.

We stayed at this hotel due to the TripAdvisor reviews we read and were very happy to find that they were very accurate. We will definitely stay there again whenever we are in the area again.

We have had our group of Senior couples (softball team) stay at the Sleep Inn in Liberty Missouri in July of 2011 and 2012. The hotel service is outstanding. I made my arrangements through Kim and she helped make everything work. The breakfast was above average when compared to the typical hotel. The hotel is very clean, has a great mini water park for children, and is located right off a four lane road. You have quick access to Liberty - grocery stores, fast food and both I-435 and I-35.

Room Tip: Everyone in our group felt they had a good room.

Overall, my family was very happy with our visit to this hotel. Very fast and efficient check in, clean rooms, very nice pool area. Other than the slide, the pool is truthfully better for younger kids but my 15y/o and 10y/o entertained themselves tossing a ball around. Only complaints, cheap thin towels that left white fuzzies all over me and were soaked as soon as I dried myself off and the shower curtain was a single liner that was lightweight and either if left out, got the floor wet or if onthe inside of tub, blew in towards me not leaving much room in the shower. Also we wished the weekday breakfast was until 10 so we could sleep in a little later when we were vacationing.

After reading internet reviews, we booked our last night in Liberty at the Sleep Inn, a brand-new chain hotel located at the junction of I-35 and 291. The lady and I give it two thumbs up. Our room had the standard features of the King Double, was very clean, and (We were on the side opposite the freeway) exceptionally quiet, given the location. We also appreciated the proximity to the laundry room after some adventures in the Missouri wilderness. A wash was only a dollar, and the machines were new and efficient. The room initially offered an arctic experience; the air conditioner’s digital thermostat let us quickly correct the problem. Two signs of early wear: someone had tracked tar or grease in from the back entrance, which was unsightly, and there were a few black marks on the walls inside our door. Apparently someone had leaned some equipment or something there.

From the number of rug rats and pizza reptiles populating the place, the swimming pool and giant slide are quite a draw for the kiddies. The pool itself is four times the size you find in the typical freeway hotel, with lots of room indoors for lounging. The slide itself was maybe 25 ft. high, definitely not of the quality of Oceans of Fun, only a few miles away, but diverting for the junior-high to early high school set.

The free breakfast buffet was better than many reviewers indicate but still needs a bit of tweaking. The scrambled eggs were hot and tasty, but the sausage was barely warm, and the biscuits had grown cold in the AC. The biggest problem was the modest size of the room. We were there on a Wednesday morning, and every table was taken. Several guests had to take their food back to their rooms. I can’t image what it is like on a weekend. The breakfast overseer did a nice job of keeping the stations supplied, and the Belgian waffle maker was the most popular option.

Room Tip: Get a room on the far side, away from I-35, if possible
