Excellent NY style deli fare. Huge pastrami, Reuben, corned beef sandwiches. Wings come in three different ways: all good. Even the half sour pickles are right on.

“Great Food and Atmosphere”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 28, 2012

This is one of our top restaurants to go to (we eat out a lot). Tons of TVs so you can see the less popular games as well. Great food! As the person below said they have great deli food. The bar area is quite big and really nice. Its a fun atmosphere that all ages like. Its big enough so that you can normally get a table, yet its usually crowded.

“The best delicatessen restaurant in the Saint Louis area”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 26, 2011

As we've been introduced to lower quality pre-sliced meat in supermarkets such as Schnuck's and Dierberg's (and much worse at Walmart and groceries outside the Saint Louis area), it's good to know that there is still real delicatessen meat available.

To make a great deli sandwich, you need great bread, high quality pastrami, corned beef, and other cuts, great mustard or other toppings, and excellent pickles. Lester's actually brings their pickles in from Brooklyn (the one in New York city). They've managed to get delicatessen meats that are unsurpassed in Saint Louis and elsewhere. The potato salads are perfect (no excessive vinegar and sugar), the cole slaw just right, and they serve a good variety of beverages.

Some of you will love the sports bar aspect of Lester's, but we go there for the food. We haven't found any other place in the Saint Louis area with really good deli food, and frankly it brings back memories of how wonderful delicatessens were in Baltimore many years ago. I don't know of any places outside of Saint Louis with excellent delicatessen food anymore, either, so this is a great place to visit.

The ribs are also good, but it's hard for me to pass up the deli sandwiches. The meat is fairly lean, but has the right flavor. The rye bread is real rye bread, ideal for these sandwiches.

My wife likes the Rueben, and they seem to do other items well, too, as evidenced by the strong local crowd.

So why not five stars? A delicatessen place can be a great restaurant, but it can't get five stars in my book just serving delicatessen food.
