stayed 2 nights due to the snow storm. Staff was fantastic and catered to my every need.Dinner that night was taco bar (very good) Breakfast consisted of many , many choices. The sidewalks were kept clear of snow and the shuttle service was top notch.! The bed/mattress =great. Room spacious and clean. FULL KITCHEN!! Room included fireplace, but did not use it. Shower was perfect. Would select this hotel again and again.

Average hotel near Crown Center (but not really walkable). Free shuttle to destinations within 4 miles, but not to airport. Complimentary wireless, parking, and breakfast, all of which make this a good value compared to nearby hotels that charge for all three. Room was spacious, but bedroom was not separated by french doors as shown on their website; it is just one big room with sitting area in front of an empty nonfunctional fireplace, a kitchen area, and a sleeping area. I asked for ice at check-in and was told that there was an icemaker in the fullsize fridge that would make ice "shortly." Ridiculous, I said, so the clerk dutifully went to the breakfast room where there is an icemaker and got me a bag of ice. There are almost no implements in the kitchen so you really couldn't cook much, but the fridge and microwave are great to have. All in all, I would stay here again because of the good value for your money. Best if you are traveling by car, however. Beware: there are no elevators so you will have to take the stairs if your room is on the second or third floor. This hotel is like a set of townhomes, not your traditional hotel.

Room Tip: Trade-off: first floor requires no stairs, but you can hear steps from the guests above you.

Thank you so much for your feedback and we are glad that you felt our hotel was a good value. For future reference, the French doors that you mention on our website are in our 2 bedroom penthouse suites which close off the downstairs bedroom from the parlor. The fire places are "wood" burning, we sell the logs in our market. We hope that you will come back and visit us again soon the next time you come to Kansas City!

I requested and received a room upgrade consistent with my Platinum loyalty status. The front desk staff are wonderful -- always a pleasant experience. The card reader for my first suite proved inoperable at check-in, so I was quickly switched to suite 332. The kitchen was well equipped with fresh, clean plates, glasses, and cookware. The upstairs bed where I slept was very comfortable, and the climate control worked well.

Although I'm always happy to find an automatic ice maker in the freezer, this is where the oddity came. It made plenty of ice, but the ice had an awful odor and made drinks taste terrible. I thought at first it was because very little if any water had been ran through the ice maker recently, so I tossed the first day's ice and waited for the second. But it was no better. Nor the third day's. Nor the fourth's. The smell and taste was vaguely like rotting rubber hose. So I'm wondering of the line connecting the ice maker to the water service was perhaps defective. Had there been no issues with the ice, I would have awarded the fifth star on this review.

The property is otherwise well maintained. The location is convenient to downtown where I was working for the week.

One quick note about a nearby grocery store "Sav-a-lot": Don't bother going there after dark. By the time you make your way past the drug dealers and prostitutes, you'll find the door locked. At 8 PM on Monday. What gives? I figured it was locked for security because I saw people still inside. The morbidly obese security guard who was there overseeing things waddled a few steps toward the door and managed to squeeze out "WE'RE CLOSED" just before running short of breath and clutching his chest.

So yeah, get your groceries for the week on the Kansas side at a chain like Walmart or Super Target. Only visit the nearby Sav-a-lot if you need to pick up some hookers and blow.

Room Tip: 332 was a great suite, but the ice smells and tastes horrible.

Thank you so much for your feedback and we are very glad that you enjoyed your visit and our hotel. We apologize for the problem with your ice maker. Engineering is headed to check it out as I type! I am so glad that you let us know which room. For future reference, the grocery store nearby that we recommend is SunFresh. It is close to the hotel and we provide shuttle service. We also have complimentary grocery shopping where you give us your list and we will purchase your groceries for you.

My group and I stayed at this hotel in November. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was spacious, had a kitchen area, had comfy beds, and clean (which is a must). Lobby/check-in area seemed small and crowded. Free breakfast was available, had limited selection, but was adequate. Shuttle service is available for downtown, crown center, and country club plaza. The only concern I have for this hotel is it seems to be located in the "bad" part of town. When I say bad, it just means the back side neighborhoods are run-down and boarded up. We were even told not to leave any valuables in the car because the night before our stay, there was a break-in to one of the cars. So please be careful. As for good for small conferences, upstairs in the main building, there are a couple of rooms that could be used for small group gatherings, speeches, and forums. They had the tables and chairs set up for us. They even provided coffee and pitchers of water. Overall, we were all pleased with our stay.

Room Tip: Do NOT leave valuables in the car. Break-ins may occur during your stay.

Thank you so much for your feedback and we are very glad that you enjoyed your visit and our meeting space. Please note that the break ins were in the city as a whole not at our hotel. Of course, all travelers should always remove valuables from cars especially in parking lots. Very best wishes for a wonderful 2013 and we hope that you will return soon!

We walked up to the lobby to check in and the young woman working at the check in counter was sitting on a counter in the back. (Looked very unprofessional).

However, she was very pleasant as we checked in and received our key cards, The room was spacious and clean and the furnishings were in good shape except for the couch which had a hole in one end.. The bed was fairly comfortable but did sag in the middle.

We were on the 4th floor with no elevator. There were stairs outside the building. We are in good shape and able to carry our luggage up the stairs but this could be a problem for some people.

The included breakfast was very good! They had eggs, sausage, waffles, cereal and and a variety of juices and coffee. Quite impressive and very good!

Excellent location, within walking distance of Lego museum and other things. Staff was friendly and helpful.
The only things that were somewhat disappointing:
the bed seemed a little wore out, fireplace wasn't connected for use, etc. overall not the usual excellence you might expect from staying at a Residence.
Sort of a Residence of the Hood.
But a little less expensive than other Residences.

Room Tip: Better in warm weather, no inside pool. Great location for downtown activities. Go to Oklahoma Joe...

Thank you so much for your feedback. We apologize that you did not care for our beds. We are in the process of replacing our top of bed package and have 50% complete. Our fireplaces are not gas, they are real fireplaces. We have fire logs in our Market. We are very glad that you enjoyed our location and especially our staff. We hope that you will return soon.
