“Dissappointment”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 22, 2012

Linda @ Check-in was wonderful. Very helpful.
The inital impression of the "Penthouse" was nice, but that changed.
The Master Bedroom doors do not close enough to have complete privacy.
The Master Bathroom door has to be jammed shut to close. The sheetrock in
the master bath above the shower looks as if it can come down at any minute.
Definately not worth the $$ they charge.
The pool is outdoors. Bummer! So,it was closed. The kids were dissapointed.
We were informed that this Marriott is privately owned and the owner does not want to
do any costly repairs. I'd advise to stay somewhere else.

Dear Dawn:
We apologize that you were disappointed in our hotel. French doors seperate our downstairs bedroom from the living room and as such are not completely private / soundproof as you mention. Thank you for letting us know about the repairs needed in the bathroom, they have been remedied and we deeply regret that you had this problem. I am not sure why someone told you misinformation, but our hotel is Marriott managed and as all of our hotels, held to standards for repairs and renovations. We are doing exterior renovations starting this week. On a positive note, we are very glad that you found our Front Desk associate friendly and helpful!

Thank you very much for your feedback which we have used to improve our performance.

Yours in hospitality,

Paige Southard

Great access to downtown with on site parking. Fireplaces work with special logs which can be purchased from the front desk. Nice sized kitchens and bathrooms. Exceptionally clean. Employees are very helpful and friendly. Free shuttle available from very early to late within two mile radius of the hotel. Employees were very accommodating and friendly. The property has some rough edges with poorly sealed windows, crumbling steps to a unit which was blocked off with cones, "soft" spots in floors, chipped paint. The food at the "manager's reception" both nights we attended was flat awful. One night was pasta and the noodles were so over cooked they were gummed up on the serving spoon. The pasta sauce tasted to have been straight out of the jar. However, the meatballs, which appeared way late in the meal, were the only salvation to this meal. The next night were hamburgers and gardenburgers. They were inedible dried out hockey pucks. Things might be different if you get there right at the beginning of the reception. On both nights we went to eat about 30 minutes into the service. The beds seemed somewhat rickety and were not very comfortable. However, the positives DO outweigh the negatives. The suite was really more than satisfactory and the wonderful employees make it worth the price.

Room Tip: Rooms facing Main Street on the downtown end of the property face the parking garage of the Federal...

Thank you so much for your feedback and we are glad you enjoyed your stay with us! We are replacing the stairs you mention next week! We are glad that you enjoyed our complimentary shuttle. It goes within a 4 mile radius so includes both the Downtown and Plaza areas. Please come back and see us soon.

The lady who checked me in was a delight but that was where the awesome came to an end.

My room had ants which they gave me Raid for and some rewards points. The buildings were on the older side and the workout room was average.

They had the managers social with alcohol. I look young for my age, but I was surprised and taken aback when I was asked to provide my ID when I poured myself a beer. It was quite embarrassing (although I suppose I should feel complimented).

Most likely won't stay here again.

We stayed here for a weekend with friends, it is located close to everything that we wanted which meant the taxi rides to Kaufman Stadium, Power and Light District and the Plaza were affordable. This allowed us to have a good time without having to worry about driving afterwards. We had a problem with hot water the first morning, but they came and fixed it right away. Not a new hotel, but it fit our needs with a reasonable price.

The rooms are all suites in small bulidings surrounding a parking lot. The layout of the rooms is nice. The rooms are decent but could use some updating. If you were there for a week it would be perfect. Each room has a full kitchen with plates, cookware, etc.
The first night we were there the a/c in our room stopped working. Luckily it was a cool night so it wasn't that big of issue. The next morning the front desk staff was very helpfull moving us to a different room.
Breakfast was very nice. Lots of choices.

Room Tip: I would recommed requesting a room towards the back of the hotel. The front of the hotel is on a bu...

Stayed June 15-18, 2012. Check in easy. Unit a little dated, but comfortable. Front desk after checkin not responsive. Loud guests not controlled, Response for information or requests for ice or water not met with helpful action.

For price, too many other places to stay that are more accomodating.

We came in for a large convention - no other rooms available, otherwise we would have checked out.
Close to downtown. I will give them that.
No breakfast on Saturday; trash from the day before still in the receptacles. "What do you want ME to do about it?"
Broken tile in bathroom, peeling paint and damaged drywall in the shower/tub. Filthy switch plates, and never wiped down the mirror - in a week.
Kitchen was not appointed with minimum items.
Cigarette burns in sofa, sheets.........did not change the sheets on the sofa bed - in a week.
There is a hole in the subfloor in the Kitchen only covered with Vinyl - ready for someone to fall through.
We were told smoking was allowed everywhere on site but not IN the rooms. So we had someone standing in front of our door every day with his ashtray...in his boxers and TShirt. Honest. It is NOT a no smoking facility.
NO ONE seems to care about minimum standards.
If you do, DO NOT stay here.

Room Tip: There IS no good room. Because there is no good management. And no minimum maintenance or housekee...
