Just returned from a short getaway. Picked the Holiday Inn for the location and price. Both were good. Nice hotel for the money. Great location near the Country Club Plaza and the museums. Nice pool area. Our room was very clean. I had read and heard that the beds were hard but the king bed in our room had a pillow top mattress which was very comfortable. Maybe they have recently updated. Don't know for sure but we found everything to be satisfactory. The van service to local attractions was also very convenient. The staff was friendly and helpful. Especially want to thank Washington who checked up in and later drove the van, taking us to dinner spots and the museums. He is very nice man who was consistently professional and caring. Also, Diva who served us coffee each morning was gracious and kind. Breakfast included in the rate was more than adequate. All in all we had a nice time and will stay there again.

Jeanne,
Thank you for your feedback, especially your compliments of Washington and Diva! They are outstanding staff members and exemplify the kind of customer service we strive to provide every guest. I will make sure that I pass along your kind words to them.
We have recently replaced the mattresses throughout the hotel to an outstanding pillowtop for greater comfort. It is through your feedback that we are able to continuously make improvements to improve our guests experience.
Thank you again,

Great stay. Only issue was housekeeping showing up at 8 AM. We weren't there for too long just a night. The pool area is great would have loved to be able to stay and enjoy but we had to get back on the road. It was a clean, quiet room. This was our 2nd time staying here at will stay again.

Room Tip: Room is tight with two beds, but nice room. Our room must have been first for housekeeping at 8 AM...

All we were looking for was clean, friendly accommodation for the night, with a swimming pool. The good news is, this hotel has a swimming pool. But the hotel is dated, the location isn't good, the carpets smell of mildew and mold, and the rooms are dreary. You can do so much better in KC.

Dear sc43,
I apologize that our property did not suit your needs. The photos on the website are very recent and indicative of what you get when you arrive. I am most confused about your comment on our location- as location is repeatedly noted as great in these reviews. We are just blocks away from 200 shops and restuarants and have a complimentary shuttle that will take you to all of them.

The underground parking garage is massively stress-inducing -- overcrowded with impossibly tight spaces between numerous columns. Lack of mini-fridges and microwaves in rooms a real minus. Windows of 1st Floor rooms open onto busy pool area, reducing privacy. Can't beat the location though.

Room Tip: Avoid 1st Floor (pool).

Dear Johnny Y,
I apologize for the stress you felt regarding our parking garage. Many hotels on and near the Country Club Plaza do not offer complimentary parking but we feel it is a great value for our guests. We have two parking levels which accommodate different sized vehicles. One is primarily for larger cars, trucks, and suv's, the other is for midsize and smaller cars. It can be difficult to park a larger vehicle on that level-my apologies for any confusion there may have been. We also have surface parking around the exterior of the building.
Many of our families love the room with window view of the pool but obviously this isn't for everyone- if you come back just ask not to be placed in one of these rooms and our staff will move you to a location you prefer.
I appreciate you taking the time to offer your feedback.

We stayed two nights from July 31-August 1st. Basic getaway for a family of four, and well worth the money spent. Strengths of the hotel are the staff. Starting with Andrew and Kiki at the front desk, very professional and attentive. Also Sydney who helped set it all up via email weeks in advance. She did a great job of answering questions and securing the reservation via a family discount from KCtravel.com

The pool is well maintained and large for an outdoor only pool. I would recommend it as a place one can relax in a chair and/or swim without having to feel crowded. I would like to return for their PigFest cook out on Saturdays, which occurs in a large seating area next to the pool. The breakfast and restaurant side of the hotel (located in an easy to find area) are above average and well maintained. The breakfast buffet is well worth it, and the morning staff is very polite and attentive. The afternoon/evening staff on the bar side could use some basic lessons on common courtesy as they tend to be either aloof (one night) or over zealous in their comments about any topic on the news (next night).

The rooms seem to be well maintained, albeit older as other reviewers have stated. I give the hotel credit for updating the carpet the beds and bathrooms...no complaints. One strange thing that happened and I noticed other reviewers mentioned it...was that the housekeeping staff wanted to come in an start cleaning at 9am on our check out day, lets face it..thats too early.

Dear JH,
Thank you for the comments about our property. I will share your comments with Andrew and Kiki- they will very much appreciate your kind words.

I am happy that you enjoyed our clean and well maintained property- we are continuously making improvements in all areas of the hotel. I am sorry about the housekeeping staff disturbing you- this is another point that we will use for improvement in our service.

You mention enjoying our restaurant, bar, and pool- those are all very popular amenities especially the pool and kids under 12 eat free with a parent. Once again, we appreciate your feedback and will use it to make the appropriate improvements in our service.

Above average for a holiday inn. The rooms and facilities were all very clean and well kept. If you are a member of their frequent stay club you receive a free breakfast, full buffet. Much better than you would get at a budget hotel. Outdoor pool very nice with large patio. Location walking distance to te Plaza and many other restaurants, etc.

Should not advertise plaza view rooms. I paid extra money to have a plaza view, but could only see the hotel next door. Truley two blocks off of the plaza. Was not provided with basic ammentities (i.e. soap bar). Bed sheets were like cardboard and very itchy. Odd smells in the hallway and in room. Was very apparent that hotel was old.
