“the STAY vs. CUSTOMER service”
Reviewed September 25, 2013

When we checked in, all that was asked of me was my id and credit card. Once the info was taken, we were directed to the elevators. That was it! I was expecting an explanation of where things were, cocktails, breakfast the next morning, etc. Most hotels offer the basic explanation.

The rooms are a little bit dated. The bedding was the "pretty touch". Looked fluffy. Little did I personally know, that they added down feather mattress topper. Horrible for my back. Being a germa-phobiac, how, exactly are feathers supposed to deter germs and bed bugs. A variety of pillows seemed to please me until sleep time. They were huge and firm, or small and flat. I was feeling like goldie locks.
Needless to say, that sleeping experience was not well.
The air conditioner was down to 64 but the room temp was 70. It never dropped in coolness. I should have called the front desk, however since I was rushed through, I didn't expect much help.

The next morning we chose to dine for breakfast. We were greeted warmly by Mary and attended to pretty promptly. She asked how our stay was and told her it was mediocre. She asked how our check in went and I explained to her there really wasn't a check in. She apologized and said she would find out who helped us. She worked the dining room and the front desk as part of her job duties. She returned with our beverages and apologized for our experience and offered us a discount off breakfast. She gave the most OUTSTANDING customer service I have had in long long time! I would go back, just to have her accommodate our needs. I was very pleased!

Check-in was alright, rooms were slightly disappointing. I was EXTREMELY impressed with the customer service. Absolutely outstanding! I was there for a wedding, and the pavilion area for the reception was absolutely perfect. Gorgeous views from the patio at night.

I was there for a business meeting. We had some meals at the hotel and the food was very average with the best meal being the cold cut lunch. The rooms are small but adequate. The computer to print out airline boarding passes did not work but the staff quickly did it for me on their machines. WiFi and other computer uses are very expensive. They are located on a lake but don't do much to utilize that feature. I will say the staff was very friendly and helpful.

The hotel itself is older. Rooms are smaller. The bathroom is very small. The tub/shower is an old style where you stand taller inside of it than you do on the floor of the bathroom. My husband is 6'6" and couldn't stand up straight without hitting his head on the ceiling. In the room we were in, the heat didn't work and the fan/blower was quite loud. When the fan was off, you could hear people in the hallway. Not ideal. The staff was delightful. The front desk people were very helpful and welcoming upon checkin. They explained the new online check-in procedure to us in case we wanted to use it in the future. We got in late one evening after our event and we were hungry but room service was closed, so the person at the front desk ran to the kitchen to see if we could order a pizza and then some down to pick it up. The kitchen accommodated our request. Very nice. If you don't mind staying at an older property (which has been updated in decor) this is a good value and very close to the airport.

As a platinum Marriott member, I visit lots of hotels. This one is in a great location. We had a very spacious, quiet room as requested. Beds were very comfortable with down pillows. Room service personnel outstanding, finding us a bottle opener when we needed one. The all-important "white noise" fan worked well on the thermostat. The only negative was the wake up call we asked for was never made. This is a serious mistake for an airport hotel, and I brought it to the attention of the front desk. Would otherwise recommend.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room. We never heard any planes!

From the always helpful front desk clerks to the terrific bar/restaurant staff, the airport Marriott does not disappoint. The shuttles every 20 minutes and convenient proximity to KCI make it the perfect place to stay the night before an early morning flight.
