“Good value, great location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 1, 2013

This is your typical 3-star Best Western hotel, but with very nice and helpful staff. Also in great location if you want to visit the Kansas City Plaza or the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. It took us 10 minutes tops to walk down to the Plaza (a couple of minutes longer on the way back because then it was uphill) and the neighbourhood felt very safe for walking, even in the evening. The complimentaroy breakfast was good with choices of cereal, yoghurt, scrambled eggs & sausage, waffles and even monkey bread (which I had never tasted before but loved). The room was clean and felt spacious for 2 ppl staying 2 nights. We had a room towards the back garden of the hotel and even though we experienced some loud voices in the afternoon, it was nice and quiet at night. The complimentary off-street parking is another appreciated bonus.

We wanted and affordable place to stay close to The Plaza and this property worked nicely for us. You can walk to the Plaza, it was about one block to a park area and then approximately 2 blocks through the park to get to the shopping and dining areas. Our group managed the walk easily but it might be a challenge for those with small children or seniors in the group. There is a Quick Trip gas station and convenience store right next door to the hotel. Our room was clean and comfortable and the hotel seemed to be well maintained. The front parking lot was small but luckily we had a covered parking place close to the front door. I believe there is more parking in back but I did not personally go to this area. The breakfast room was small. The breakfast offering basic. We encountered a pitcher of milk that was spoiled during our stay but the staff member promptly attended to it when it was pointed out to her. We would definitely stay here again.

This hotel is located several blocks northeast of the plaza. On weekends the hotel has a shuttle, however the walk to shops and restaurants isn't too bad if you enjoy walking. We relaxed in the garden behind the hotel which was a quiet place to sit and talk with friends. Parking was free. Large selection of items in the continental breakfast. This is a small hotel with an attentive staff.

This is a lovely place to stay within walking distance of the arts museum and plaza. The surrounding streets wind around a lot so it made it difficult for our bus to get around but the neighborhood has a lot of interesting architecture that I wish our group had more time to enjoy.

Nice hotel. Clean, beautiful room. Complimentary breakfast includes eggs, sausage, hash browns. I recommend this place to all. Beautiful room near Country Club Plaza, downtown parks and restaurants. Gotta put more words! LOL blah blah blah blah

This hotel is conveniently located within walking distance to Country Club Plaza, which houses a number of restaurants, shopping and theaters. This hotel has a lovely garden setting behind the lobby. The Front Desk Clerk greeted us warmly and assigned a king-sized room on the second floor. The room was very clean, comfortable bed, good lighting and spacious. The expanded breakfast buffet included scrambled eggs, sausage, waffles, a variety of cereals, yogurt, bagels, toast, and much more. The only drawback was that the breakfast room was extremely small for the amount of guests.

This hotel had plenty of pluses and minuses.
Negatives
Absolutely the worst pillows ever. Too firm and thick to lie on. Had to fashion my own pillow as if camping.
Breakfast area is too small for the number of guests. Very crowded food area and limited seating.
If you need a cart for luggage very difficult maneuvering.
Positives
Helpful, friendly staff.
Good breakfast selection. Great eggs.
Easy walk to country club plaza.
Nice spacious room.

Thank you so much for taking your time to tell us about your observations. The pillows are Best Western mandated. We are sorry if they were not as comfy as you would have liked. Pillow firmness is so personal, so we appreciate the feedback. You can always call the front desk and tell them you would prefer a different pillow and they will accommodate. Our breakfasts are very good and sometimes people linger quite a while and then there is not as much seating for the late comers! We will pass along your comments about the staff, they try very hard to make sure our guests are treated like family. And we are happy you like the size of your guest room and our proximity to the Plaza. We hope if you travel to KC again, we will see you at our property. And please ask for a different pillow next time!!!!!
