“Wow - what an amazing meal!”
Reviewed July 3, 2013

I picked this restaurant for a business dinner near Hotel Phillips. It was superb! We could talk and enjoy. Everyone had a wonderful meal paired with outstanding wines.

Top ten: yes!

Inspired: server Gail Crawford was always there to help

Pro: from the steaks to the seafood, incredible wines, historic atmosphere, great tour of the hotel when we were finished, great staff, lots of attention for our group only when needed

Con: nothing at all

Return: you bet - we cannot wait! I would like to stay in the Hotel Savoy B&B next time.

“Best Wedding Ever”
Reviewed May 6, 2013

Chose Savoy for daughter's wedding and it was wonderful. Curtis and staff were great. Spent a great night in one of their suites as well.

“It was good enough for President Truman”

Loved the service, atmosphere, history, and food. Menu options were excellent. Prices were high but the experience was worth it.

“excellent food and atmosphere”
Reviewed March 10, 2013

We went to the Savoy because of its reputation and history; we were not disappointed. The room was lovely and the waiter was attentive and helpful. We each had seafood: broiled rainbow trout and lobster newburg; both were delicious. Quantity was just right. House salad was particularly tasty. Bread plate even included cinnamon rolls. The menu was quite extensive; the service was efficient and gracious. Will definitely return.

“We were treated so poorly we didn't stay to eat”
Reviewed February 25, 2013

We had been looking forward to trying this KC landmark and made a reservation for a special celebration. Our reservation was for 7:30 and we showed up on time and dressed up - my husband in a suit and tie and I in a favorite little black dress. We wanted a booth, so asked the host if we could wait for one. He told us he would put us in the first booth that opened up. So far, so good.
We had a seat at the bar, and the bartender was great. He made us feel welcome. He asked what we were waiting on and we told him we were to get the next booth. When we saw the host seat another couple in the first booth, we assumed he had forgot about us and we reminded him. Then, he sat another couple in the next booth that opened up. Three couples were seated in 'the next open booth'. The bartender gave us complimentary drinks and, when the NEXT booth opened up, the bartender walked across the dining room and held it for us - not the host!
We were still willing to give this a shot - now an hour past our reservation - but the waiter chose to be rude and condescending. At that point, we got up and walked out. The waiter actually followed us outside and claimed we hadn't paid our bar bill, but we had paid for the first round.
Comment on the decor - this place was something special in its day. The problem is, someone needs to invest in it. The wood paneling on some of the columns had fallen off and not been repaired, the ceiling plaster was cracked and peeling, and the furniture very worn. It was beautiful at some point, but it felt terribly neglected to me.
