Description: Aixois is a classic French bistro in Kansas City’s Brookside neighborhood, just a few blocks from the world-famous Country Club Plaza. Nestled on the Trolley Trail in the Crestwood Shops, Aixois offers Kansas City’s best outdoor patio and an intimate, relaxed dining room. Emmanuel Langalde, a native of Aix-en-Provence, opened Aixois with his wife Megan in 2001. Chef Emmanuel, inspired by the techniques and recipes of his native France, offers a distinct menu focused on fresh, organic, seasonal ingredients. He also works with area farmers, butchers, and bakers to bring local flavor to his classic French cuisine.

loved the salads and the happy hour atmosphere; disappointed in the attempt at croque monsieur - look it's not just melted cheese on bread... wait staff friendly and competent; good wine list; fun shopping on the street

My family of six ate at this restaurant at the end of the Thanksgiving weekend. It was a pleasure. Our reservation was honored on time during a prime Saturday evening. The service was timed perfectly and was not hurried nor intrusive. Our food was very good from the hanger steak to the fish. All of us were pleased. It's a bit noisy but tolerable when full.
I highly recommend this spot. It's casual, comfortable and has good French style food.

This formerly wonderful bistro has lost its lustre over the past year or so. Once an intimate place to enjoy a special dinner, it has now become just a nice place to leisurely enjoy wine and cheese on a lazy Saturday afternoon. Aixois enjoys a great location and the patio dining is especially fun when the weather is cool and crisp. Not the case, though, if you need to dine inside. On 3 recent occasions, two for dinner and one for lunch, the food has been mediocre, at best. The charred tomato soup was borderline warm, lacking in seasoning. Spinach & cheese crepes bitter and also lacking in seasoning. The ham and cheese sandwich was good, as was the french onion soup. Salad also good. The bread - French? I think not - has hardly any consistency and was certainly not the French bread you find at real French bistros, also served cold. The past 3 occasions have been consistent in terms of deplorable service, too. Most recently we waited a full 25 minutes before anyone bothered to take our orders. We had to request service, request drinks, request extra bread, coffee and tea refills. The entrees were not as ordered - for example, topped with eggs when requested to hold the eggs - and cold. The waitstaff attitude was dismissive and truly acted as though they couldn't care less whether they had diners! The patio diners were also complaining about the bad service. Understandable if there were not enough waitstaff but there were plenty, if they all chose to do their jobs. Instead, they seemed to be chatting with each other, scrolling their smartphones and wrapping silverware for the dinner crowd. We will not ever go back, particularly in view of other outstanding French restaurants in KC such as Cafe Provence. Save your $$$ and your appetites for those. In fact, there's a good one just up the street!

On a recent trip to Kansas City I had a business dinner at Aixois that was fabulous. They have traditional French steak offerings, Steak Frites, Filet Mignon that are outstanding. The appetizers and salads are all innovative and freshly prepared. The mussels in blue cheese sauce and the pear and spinach salad are two standouts. They have a good wine selection, but also encourage people to bring their own wines. A very nice added service is they will pair your meal to the wines you bring in.

Our group had a wonderful evening of fellowship and food. The service was attentive and detailed oriented without a hint of pushiness. The food and service were so good, I stopped by early the next morning for coffee and breakfast.

I took a friend to lunch on June 19, 2013 to Aixois French Bistro. The food is reasonably priced and delicious. I had the famous french ham and cheese sandwich with a salad, and my friend had hanger steak and french fries.

With the addition of 2 glasses of wine each, the bill was more than doubled. It was a celebration after all. Aixois has a beautiful outdoor patio, very attractive indoor dining area, and a take out area for coffees and pastries.

Our server was most accommodating and gave us loads of time that we needed to catch up with each other before ordering. They serve 3 meals a day and I look forward to trying out weekend breakfast / brunch!
