Beware: various reviewers along with my own experience have confirmed the owner of this restaurant dislikes gay people, Asians, women and children. He won't hold back in making said people feel unwelcome and uncomfortable. Sound like a fun time? Better yet, the food does nothing to make up for this horrible man. I'd recommend taking your business to Vietnam Cafe about 2 minutes down the street. Or any other Vietnamese restaurant in town. If you love spring rolls and authentic, fresh cuisine, you're better off avoiding this place. And if you like being treated respectfully (like most customers) I'd go elsewhere.

This has been my family's favorite eatery since 1994 when we moved to KC. The spring rolls and pan-fried dumplings are beautiful and delicious! The peanut sauce is addictive...you can't go wrong with anything they serve.

Best shrimp spring rolls in town, cute little store front place down on 39th street (close to KU Med) - street parking available and great value for the money!

We went for Monday lunch at noon and they were decently busy with no wait. I haven't been here since the fire several years ago-the food is still good but the walls are now bare and the ambiance is suffering.
We had the #1, "meatloaf" soup, the meat is shrimp, ground chicken, and one other 'meat' held together with egg in a broth with rice noodles. And the #8 with chicken and vegetables, This dish has been a favorite of mine for decades in many different restaurants and delicious in this one. It is rice noodles with chicken and vegetables, ground peanuts and a fish sauce. Both dishes were quite good and very different from each other.
We also had the spring rolls, always good. Their peanut sauce is definitely above average.

Great place to go if you want authentic Vietnamese. I like this place, but think Vietnam Cafe at the end of 39th Street is better.
