When we arrived there were a couple other people present and she just happened to be a 20yr employee for TWA. She was very knowledgable about the costumes they use to wear for there promotions. Good collection alot of stuff that has been long forgotten.

Located at Signature Flight Support at the Downtown Kansas City Wheeler Airport, this was even better than I could have imagined. The collection includes boarding passes, uniforms, seats, maintenance items, baggage, serviceware, manuals, maps, ads, models, and even more! The Lockheed Constellation flight simulator was a blast! The gift shop was equally as fun and the museum staff were able to add their own wonderful personal TWA histories.

I was greeted by a former TWA pilot who showed me around and gave me insider history on the great TWA. I also had the honor of meeting a former TWA flight attendant who helped me in their retail store. I was able to see the different uniforms and items used throughout the 75 plus years of TWA and learned many new things. They even have a chair on display that my childhood hero, Amelia Earhart sat in. This is a well run gorgeous facility and a must see if you are visiting Kansas City. I loved being here. How cool is it that you can stand in the hangar and terminal that once housed the likes of Amelia Earhart, Charles Lindbergh, Howard Hughes and many other notables through the years. This is such an important place for American aviation history and a gem of a find. Veterans/military with ID get in free. I loved visiting here and will return again because it really is that good.

We recently attended a Honor Flights supper at the TWA Museum. We took in the museum before our evening events began. First of all, the museum is in the TWA terminal and hanger from the 1930s. Very well kept facility. The museum covers the history of TWA. You will see it all. Models of all the different aircraft flown. The different logos carried. The flight attendants outfits. One has a special lapel flap for a reason. And there is much more. Many pictures of transition over the years. You may even meet the granddaughter of one of the founders. You will see a photo of a Lockheed Electra. There is a story to go along with it. While there, you can also take flight instruction aboard the "Connie" simulator. If you're in the area, take the time to stop. It is well worth it.

This museum is really cool and is perfect for learning about TWA and it's past. The museum contained many interesting artifacts, pictures, historic documents and menus from the flight, airplane history, and more. It even had a DC-9 trainer. Even though the museum was small, it was really cool and well set up with great guided tours.
