We arrived late at Kansas City Airport and the airlines had lost our luggage. We got the shuttle to the Microtel without anything. They were so helpful to find us a place that was still open for dinner. I was very impressed with the cleanliness of the room, the wireless internet and the continental breakfast the next morning. I would definitely stay here again.

We stayed for one night before a morning flight. We got a great online rate and the hotel and room was clean. We did eat the continental breakfast but would likely have passed on it if we had more time. Everything in the room worked and we highly recommend using the park and fly option at the hotel. We paid $5 a day and used the free shuttle---it was prompt and is only a ten-minute wait when you return.
This was all you can expect from an airport hotel for us---if you want a richer experience go somewhere else and pay more for it.

I would definately stay again, I had a suite which was only a few $ more than the regular room and icludes a microwave, mini fridge and sink "kitchenette" area and also a sofa bed. The bed was super comfy and clean and had nice bedding on it, not your typical icky floral hotel bedspread designed to hide gross stains. The bathroom was clean as well and larger than many hotel bathrooms. The free airport shuttle was a SUPER selling point. It arrived very quickly. I did not wake up in time for the continental breakfast so I can not comment on that. haha

* Filthy Room Carpet - After about 2 minutes of walking on the carpet in our room with clean white cotton socks, the bottoms of our socks were so brown with
dirt from the carpet, the soles looked like choclate milk.

* There were old cigarette butts that peppered just outside the lobby entrance and surrounding area. By "old", I mean these had been there for weeks without
being picked up.

* The signature "Microtel" rug just inside the lobby entrance was worn so much the embroidered "Microtel" name on it's surface was barely discernible. It was filthy as well.

* An area rug just behind the front desk and just inside the doorway to front desk's adjoining office was visibly filthy.

* There was clutter such as wooden pallets and other large junk were piled up and leaning against the wall near the rear center entrance to the hotel. Just above this clutter was a window to a storage room. There were cardboard boxes piled helter skelter from the floor to just below the top of the window.

* The hotel's industrial garbage bin had several large sacks of garbage and large debris piled around the outside of the bin and the bin itself was full. It is apparent that they must be cutting corners and having their garbage service only pick up once a month.. or hauling it off themselves every month or so.

* The hotel’s TV dish is mounted at he peak of the entrance portico’s roof with 4-6 cinder blocks reminiscent of a Red Neck engineering job.

I'm a simple and easy traveler with not many requirements. It is bare bones here but I tell you, I have slept in some expensive places before and the bed wasn't nearly as nice as the one at this Microtel. Very clean. The bed is what made it great. Nice, soft, nice soft sheets. I got there late and slept and left, so I can't tell you much about the area or where to eat around there but for the price it is worth it.
