I typically like Hampton Inns. They are well-priced without being run down, and the free breakfast is very nice if you have a tight schedule.
This Hampton Inn is well-situated at the edge of Country Club Plaza. The room was adequate, but had clearly not been updated. There was no wardrobe in the room; just a hook that barely accommodated my suit.
The breakfast was a huge disappointment - frozen pastries, limited cereal options, fruit and orange juice that weren't fresh, and poorly cooked hard-boiled eggs. Even the waffle station was lacking in toppings. After finding it barely edible on the first day, I didn't even bother on the second day.
I can't expect too much from a discount/value hotel, but I have definitely had better experiences, and at $152/night, it wasn't even that inexpensive.More
