“Will never stay here again, front desk ignore customers who are trying to sleep and cater to drunk loud ones.”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 2, 2013

3am: People in adjoining room come to room. Loud, drunk, slamming doors, blaring loud music. Also slamming things against the doors that connect out rooms. Fine, it will stop as soon as they pass out. Nope.

3:30am: Call front desk to ask them to ask neighbors to be quiet. Desk says they'll send someone right up. Do they? Nope.

4:50am: Call front desk AGAIN because music is still blaring, although it sounds like neighbors are passed out. Desk says they'll "send someone right up to tell them to be quiet." Yes, they send someone. But just to stand in the hallway.

5:00am. I get dressed to go to desk and see what the deal is. See security in hallway. The guy says in almost a whisper, as to not wake them, " I think they're sleeping."

Wtf?? Well I am not. And neither is anyone in nearby rooms.

5:20am: After hearing some knocking and their phone ringing, music finally off.

5:25am: Front desk offers us free breakfast.

Never stay here if you want to sleep. Unless you value bagels and eggs more than actual sleep before driving 10 hours.

Please accept my apologies for what you experienced in the middle of the night. We try our very best to address noise issues that occur and treat each guest as equally as possible, but do not want anyone disturbed and in a room that does not allow you to sleep. Should you like to discuss further please feel free to call the main hotel phone number and ask for the Guest Services Manager, it would be my pleasure to discuss.

My husband and I come to KC every couple of months, and stay at different hotels near the Plaza. This Marriott exceeded expectations from the minute you drive up to the entrance. It is well known your first impression begins at the valet. The valet's were welcoming, great service, and very friendly. Anyone travels to the city knows most hotels charge for parking, so we were happy to choose the valet. If you're coming to enjoy your week-end at the Country Club Plaza, you know you are not going to stay at a budget hotel, so never come with the penny pinching menatlity. This hotel was well worth every penny. Front desk very attentive & friendly to incoming guests, the rooms were superb. One of the managers even went out his way to find the nearest golf course for my husband. The friendliness did not skip a beat from ANY employee, even the housekeepers you bump into in the elevator were talkative. The shuttle you offer to take you into the Plaza is a great feature. I work in the hospitality industry, and sometimes I think we are the most critical when travelling. To the upper management of this Marriott, be very proud of the staff you have there. They made our visit a wonderful week-end, and we will always stay there in all our future visits. Thank you again and kudos to the "Valet" associates, great job!!!!

Room Tip: There is not a bad room, we stayed on the 18th floor. It didn't face the main street, but it did...

I will start off by saying that everyone I encountered in this hotel was extremely friendly and welcoming. I appreciated the high level of customer service.

This is a great hotel to stay at, if you don't mind the $9.95 daily internet fee (lobby is free though, but so loud it's hard to get anything done), $15 nightly parking in the smallest spots of all time, and expensive breakfast. Oh, and the garage is terrible. Too small for 2 cars to pass each other, almost impossible to park a large vehicle, and when the valet stops in front of you and has to get a different key, it blocks you and you have to wait.

Beds are comfy, rooms are very quiet, which is much appreciated. Less than half a mile from the Plaza and the shuttle will take you there. Would I stay here again? Probably not, many other hotels in the area that offer free wifi and breakfast.

Plus - customer service, comfy room, quiet
Negative - extra charges for parking, wifi, breakfast

We've stayed here several times for trips to KC and have always had a good experience. Very close to the Plaza, just a few minutes walk, without being right in the middle of all the crazy traffic. Rooms are quiet even though the street that the hotel is on is fairly busy, never really heard any of the traffic. Staff is very friendly and helpful and the shuttle to the Plaza is a nice touch. The rooms are starting to look a little dated though and could really use a renovation. Overall, nice hotel. $15/night parking is a little high for the dreary looking parking garage but is expected.

I found this hotel to be very, very sloppy with your personal information. When I checked in the front desk clerk gave me a folio and I asked what this was. She said "its your account information (Marriott Rewards account etc.) and your status". I didn't look at the information and put the sheet of paper in my inside sport jacket pocket.

I wanted to use the Shuttle that night I checked in and the shuttle was shut down for a couple of hours. When I asked at the front desk, they said the shuttle worked all the time, except when I wanted a ride. I paid for a taxi ride that night, but the hotel did pick me up.

The following morning, I looked at the folio the front desk clerk had provided me. It was for another guest with his e-mail, credit card preference, number of nights and status. I was livid over the disclosure of this information since I wondered who received MY information. When I left the hotel that morning, the front desk clerk could NOT understand why I was upset with all my personal information being disclosed to someone else. I am guessing that everyone isn't as responsible as I am to return the folio to the front desk and I am stilll awaiting some of the repercussions of the hotel disclosing my personal information. Yes, they didn't get all the credit card information, but they have my e-mail address and who knows what someone could do with that, plus my Marriott account information. They could subscribe me to life or health insurance sites whereas I get 1000 e-mail per day or they could subscribe me to porn sites. I only give my e-mail address to people who I do business with or who I deem to be responsible. This Marriott clearly isn't responsible.

I guess what made me more angry was the clerk at the front desk couldn't understand why I was upset with my account information being disclosed to strangers. I frequent Kansas City and many of my guys stay here, but that was my last stay at the Marriott, I will not return. I am opting back to the Intercontinental where I am a Platnium Ambassador Member (Gold at Marriott). The IC isn't the best at times, but is a nice hotel, and substantially better than the Marriott and they don't disclose my personal information to strangers. I would avoid this Marriott when possible. I can't afford the risks of staying at that hotel with my personal information being given to complete strangers.

I am guessing the hotel staff haven't learned about personal identity theft. Sad, very sad. Stay here at your own risk.

We stayed here for a family weekend. Excellent greeting by Steve Hogan at the front desk, made us feel very welcome. The door people were sort of spotty, sometimes getting the door for us, other times hanging around their podium. When I asked about parking my van there no one could seem to tell me whether or not it would fit (it didn't), then it ended up on the street. Had to have the hotel credit my account upon checkout for the parking fee. Had my door knocked on (actually pounded on 3 times) at 3am by some over served guests. I didn't like the fact that there were no fridges in the room and the interior of the room appeared to be a bid dated. When I originally made my reservation it was for $139 per night and then I happened to be on Marriott website a few days later prior to my stay and found the same room for $99/night??? I brought it to Mr. Hogan's attention and he took care of it right away - must be new policy Marriott does now if their rooms don't book up. If you're looking to stay near the Plaza look at the Residence Inn close by or the Courtyard down there. Very fast elevators and nice work-out room. The shuttles back and forth from the Plaza are nice from what I saw. My wife said the staff at the Starbucks coffee shop downstairs were very nice. I'd like to see fridges in the room - there's lots of room for one and maybe a complimentary coffee urn up front. I saw the water/lemon dispenser, thank you! When the A/C kicks on in your room it sounds like a chain driven engine starting up - very loud, I was on the 6th floor.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review of our hotel. It was nice to see that Mr. Hogan took care of your requests at check - in, I will be sure to inform him of your kind words.

I was concerned to hear of some of the issues you experienced while with us - the spotty door service and noisy air conditioner are items I would like to address with the appropriate staff. Should you have the time available please contact the hotel's main phone number of 816-531-3000 and ask for the Guest Services Manager - I would be delighted to take your call.

We were attending a wedding and this particular Marriott the weekend of Aug 9-10 and was home base for those attending.

This hotel is located in the city and therefore you pay for everything and I mean EVERYTHING. Self parking was $15 a night, so that adds to the expense but is typical for most hotels in that area. No free internet. Very limited eating facilities.

Because we were attending a wedding, the nightly charge was somewhat reduced ($110 a night). There is a relatively limited restaurant on site but expect to pay $12 for a run of the mill sandwich and more for main entrees. Surprisingly all the eating facilities in the hotel were closed Saturday afternoon when we returned from a quick sightseeing trip to Harry Truman's home at 2:00 and we could get nothing to eat anywhere in the hotel (unless you ordered room service). So we were forced to get back in the car and drive to one of the local nearby restaurants to grab a quick bite to eat before attending a wedding. Don't know what one is supposed to do if they are hungry at this hotel at certain times on the weekend. Not sure if they close every day at 2:00 but it sure wasn't very convenient for guests and the nearest restaurants are about a quarter mile or more walk.

Overall the hotel was nice with all the usually trappings (and expenses) of an inner city downtown hotel. Rooms were standard size room, they were clean as was the bath room. Decent flat screen TV. Typical for most chain downtown hotels, there is no internet access unless you are willing to pay for the privilege.

Thank you for commenting on your trip to Kansas City!

I understand your frustrations in our full service restaurant not being open beyond 2:00pm - however we do have room service available every day from 6:00am until midnight along with our Great Room Lobby Lounge that opens at 4:00pm Monday through Thursday, 1:00pm on Friday and Saturday and 5:00pm on Sundays.

As a Full Service Marriott we do not offer complimentary internet in our guest rooms, however we do offer free wireless and wired internet on our Lobby Level 24 hours a day.

Thank you again for commenting - we hope to have you back with us for your next event or to visit your friends and family in Kansas City.
