It seems like all big cities have their train station. And it seems like none of them know what to do with them. This is a grand building with very little inside. There are a couple coffee shops and a couple pricy restaurants. There were a couple gift shops (yawn) and a candy shop. We went to the Pirates exhibit. Not much to it. There was a lot of reading and very little content. Our kids were excited to see the Pirates but were bored after about 10 minutes. We went during the heart of the vacation season and the place was empty. Not too impressed.

It was great! had two13 year old boys and they loved the Science Center. They were having an android exhibit at the Science Center, plus the d3 story center itself. We were there for 3 hours. Union Station was an amazing structure!

I don't know how many millions were spent to save and restore this monument from the past.

Grand old railroad stations are an architectural wonder to see. This one was the stop over point for most troop trains transporting soldiers in WWII.

In the basement, they have a kids exploratorium, theater and other things for little people to experience. We take our grandkids there. There are traveling exhibits on the main floor.

It's an easy walk from two of the major hotels in Kansas City as well as Hallmark Cards home office and shopping center.

Great example of turn of the century architecture.
After many years of allowing the station to fall into disrepair and decay, it has now been brought back to its original glory !
The station has many activities and displays, The Titantic display, Science City, free train exhibits at Christmas.
Good steak restaurant, Pierponts !

The remodel several years ago was well done. They kept alot of the classic touches in the main hall. The restaurant with two levels reminds me of Washington DC. The great hall was empty of exhibits which was nice as it allows a person to appreciate the size of the structure. Hated all of the Pirate advertising flags on the front of the building. Takes away from the style in my photographs.
