“A Foodie Find”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 21, 2013

I thought this restaurant was a fantastic find in KC! We ate here on a Friday night. The place was bustling, but not overwhelmed by the crowd. The atmosphere was cool without trying to hard. I didn't find the noise level to be distracting. The menu is diverse, inventive and the quality and presentation of the food was up there with my expectations. Our group had everything from the lamb, the catch of the day, to the KC strip and the rabbit. Each of us was quite pleased. One thing I will point out is that the servings on the 'meat board' were a bit skimpy to share (we ordered 2 for 8 people and it still was not enough) and the price for the vegetable of the day was shocking given the serving size (a slice of sweet potato tart for $17?! come on Rieger!) Overall though, if you want a unique eatery with a bit of a vibe, you should try this place.

“Fun menu, great service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 10, 2013

We were drawn to the Rieger by its menu. Our server was quite knowledgeable about the offerings and helpful in making decisions. After considering lamb and trout, I ended up with rabbit since it's not something I eat regularly. It was very good but not outstanding. The service was great; the atmosphere is busy and loud but not overwhelming. I would recommend this to others, but I would try other KC restaurants I don't know before returning.

“Rieger really ready, right? YES”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 16, 2012

Despite the mixup of one parties lamb dish (they served the wrong one) Rieger is a nice addition to KC options which is overwhelmed with BBQ and steak places. Don't get me wrong, KC area serves some of the best BBQ and steak in the country.

Rieger is small, a bit loud but energetic. No "comfort" food here. Just great reaches like Pork soup, Sous-Vide steaks, FRESH FRESH FRESH ingredient salads and killer bourbon brownie. These guys are on to doing it right when it comes to fresh and local and matching wines are plentiful in a decent wine list. They (Justin mostly) did a wonderful job and was very attentive.

ASK for kitchen table seating!

The underground bar was NOT an option. "Manifesto" is supposed to be the rage for mixologists but with max seating of 35 text early or you stand no chance to get down. A definite must on our return.

“Cool atmosphere, average food”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 8, 2012

Our group of 6 had high expectations but we all decided it was pretty average food. We had the ribeye, KC Strip and striped bass. The steaks were very average, even a little tough compared to a well-marbled ribeye I am used to. The green beans were undercooked. Presentation and service was great. Atmosphere is great. Just hoping our meal would have been worth taking the leftovers home.
