Sunday morning after early church this is an oasis in the middle of the city. Traffic whizzes by on several nearby streets but the high walls and greenery muffle the sounds. The only time of year we have not visited is when there is snow on the ground. Every season has its beauty. For butterfly watchers it is a wonderful place to sit and enjoy. The small conservatory has a constant display of orchids and a resident cat. Take your camera, a lunch, a book or just your eyes and ears and nose. One interesting thing is that people seem to treat it as a sanctuary. I have heard few loud voices, not from photographers who are busy posing their human subjects, nor from adults cautioning children to stay out of the pools.

Loved the variety and layout of flowers. A wonderful memorial to the Kauffmans.

This is a popular sight for wedding parties to be photographed. It is a very small garden, but changes frequently. You can go one week and see it and go back the next week and it will be different. There is a lot of care that goes into the ever-changing views at this garden. It is well worth the trip. Plan to spend about an hour or so there.

This is a real gem of a place to visit. It is a wonderful place to bring out of town visitors or just come by yourself to room around and enjoy the gardens. It is beautiful and relaxing. You can come often and see different flowers planted. Pretty sculptures and fountains in the garden to enjoy also. It is a true treat and so many people don't know about this. I love to come and wander around often. Enjoy!

On a sunny day in May, we brought a picnic tea with us to the Kauffman Gardens. We sat comfortably in the shade in the wrought-iron chairs while we chatted and admired the flowers. Not just flowers--the ingenious use of varieties of lettuce to fill in the spaces added more shades of green and russet. (And made us wish we'd brought salads along, too! ) In the small conservatory, the garden cat kept a placid eye on things.

Even with little kids running about, this was an utterly peaceful place--perfect for recuperating from jetlag.

The gardeners and biologists among us were grateful for the excellent plant identification labels.

Every future visit to KC will include a couple hours here.
