With the upcoming opening of the new Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts, we've been thinking of locations where we can get dinner then get out without spending too much time or money. Coda is a good option.
Food is better than average. We particularly recommend the pulled pork sandwich, the Italian meatball sandwich, and the mango salmon salad. Everything is prepared to order.
Cleanliness is considerably above average. Appearance is that of a neighborhood bar that's added a few nice items to the menu, but cleanliness & maintenance moves Coda to a notch above what you ordinarily expect.
Later in the evening, live entertainment is frequently provided. A cover charge for the band is frequently applicable.
Parking is on the street; possibly the only drawback to Coda. Nearby spaces are usually available. KCMO streets are well lit owing to a special tax for that purpose.
During certain seasons, seating is available on the front sidewalk. Given traffic on Broadway, this isn't particularly elegant but if the weather is nice, there is a good view of an urban garden located across the street, as well as of the performing arts center.
Upon inquiry, we learned that one of the owners is usually present when Coda is open, thereby explaining why quality & cleanliness standards are maintained so well.
