We have stayed at athe Raphael twice and both time the rooms, ambiance and staff was GREAT ! But do NOT dine in their restaurant (Chaz). They do have a couple of good servers there but other than that it is bad and no one is every dining there. We have had lunch t here like 6 times this year and NEVER again. One time for lunch they were out of meat ! Another time they had a new server that brought us the wrong order. Their BLT sandwich is made with tomato paste ! What is wrong with using REAL tomatos. We usually take business associates with us and they won't go back either. The last time the chicken was so dry we couldn't even eat it. Desserts are awesome but one goes to a restaurant for the main entree. They have gone thru so many staff members. They come and go. Rueben sandwiches not properly made either.
What was once a great restaurant has not lost it's glamour and everything else that a good restaurant should have. There are many more great restaurants on the Plaza to dine. By all means stay at the hotel but just skip the restaurant.

Room Tip: Stay at the hotel but skip the Chaz Restaurant

Stayed at the Raphael for the first time this weekend. Have prior been staying up the hill on the other side of the Plaza at the Marriott Residence Inn. Both are ultra-convenient to the Plaza but the Raphael now gets my vote as the place to stay while in KC. Elegant historic room. The attention to detail is apparent everywhere in the room amenities. Comfortable bed/bath, great TV with extensive cable, free Wi-fi, friendly staff, great coffee, etc. etc. Everything I was beginning to get weary of with the Residence Inn (tired property, bad glop breakfast) is not present here.

My new preferred lodging in KC!

We have stayed here over 20 years and many different flags. Marriott has done well, freshening the lobby with very chic furnishings. The front desk staff was stellar. Breakfast was such a disappointment both in quality and service. The bar is worth a Pre-bedtime cocktail, but that is all the time we care to spend in the restaurant. Make sure to take a walk around Loose Park, just up the hill.

Great location on the Country Club Plaza. Newly redecorated--a boutique hotel. We had a nice one bedroom suite. Cozy restaurant with good food. Parking can be an issue if it is snowing and the hotel is crowded but valet parking is offered.

Room Tip: Quieter rooms do not have plaza view or noise, but no view. I would rather sleep.

My wife and I celbrated our anniversary at the Raphael. It was a beautiful stay and the hotel staff was very helpful and friendly. The room had a view of the plaza and everything is within walking distance. Our dinner reservations were only about a 10 minute walk and we had an enjoyable walk back to the hotel. While this is an older building, it has been renovated to include adequate power and interenet capability. The hotel offers complimentary valet parking and I would recommend taking advantage of that service.

Room Tip: Plaza view.

We had a quick weekend get-way to Kansas City for Spring Break to catch a Sporting KC game. According to Trip Advisor this was the #1 hotel and it did not disappoint. Apparently due to a basketball tournament in town the website said they were sold out but a quick call to the front desk they were able to find us a queen suite at a great price. We arrived a little late to our drive in but were able to check in quickly and happy to find the couch bed linens easily in the closet. Most hotels you have to call down for them. The Sporting KC stadium is a short 25 min drive with a lot of shopping and eating venues surrounding it. However, it was nice to come back to the hotel, step outside the door and find dinner. I was estatic to find H&M and Buca which we don't have at home. The hotel valet was no where to be seen for quite a while on Sunday morning but I am not sure if they were short handed or very busy. The front desk didn't seem to care. However, when the valet did show up they were very nice.

Traveling through the area and had stayed at this hotel a couple years ago, so decided to stay here again as we were familiar with the area. comfortable, clean and nice! Wish they had a pool! We would stay here again in a heart beat! Great places to eat and shop within walking distance The place has several nice touches - like the fire places out front with chairs around them. Also love the decorative white lights outside the main entrance. We had a bedroom with two queen beds and a living room and bathroom on other side of the living room. Made it nice to get ready and not interrupt the others still sleeping. Bathrobes and hair dryer very nice! Nice selection in the fridge and snack cabinet - but we did not have any. Our room was on the 4th floor and view was very nice.
