Stayed here on business. Got a suite because we needed space to work -- it was a real suite, with separate bedroom and living/dining room with desk. (I hate hotels that call a room a "suite" just because there's a sofa in the corner. It's not a "suite" unless there's more than one room, and no, a bathroom doesn't count as a second room. . . . ) Wi-fi was free and worked perfectly. The staff was helpful and friendly, and prices for room service were surprisingly reasonable. The Raphael is right across the street from Country Club Plaza, where there's excellent shopping and dining.

and in this case, smaller is better. Love this hotel - the decor is nuanced; charming without being provincial. The staff connects. The rooms super spacious and beautifully appointed. Well done. Thank you.

If travels take you to Kansas City, the Raphael Hotel is where you should stay. The beautiful Kansas City hotel has old world charm and grandeur with every modern amenity waiting for you. My husband and I recently spent the weekend at the Raphael and felt pampered and indulged throughout our stay. Every staff member was accommodating and attentive. The hotel is located on the beautiful Country Club Plaza and has shopping, dining, nightlife and sightseeing all within walking distance. The rooms are spacious and beautifully appointed which was a surprise knowing that the hotel is a historical property. We dined in the Chaz restaurant in the hotel and had the most amazing dinner and breakfasts. I highly recommend the Fried Green Tomato appetizer and Grilled Caesar Salad. My husband added that the asparagus was the freshest, best-tasting side dish he had ever tasted.
In our opinion, it doesn’t get any better than the Raphael. I may be gushing in this critic however we were both so impressed with the Raphael Hotel.

For those tired of the cookie cutter hotel world, this one is a gem! Beautifully restored and carefully maintained, it is a must-stay in KC. It seems each room is slightly different and the suites are absolutely wonderful. The restaurant is in the basement but has little alcoves for privacy and quiet. While the hotel is not inexpensive, it's location on the Plaza and easy access to all KC is a plus.

Room Tip: Ask for a Plaza view.

Dear Wonderful Boutique Hotel Guests,

"Must Stay", is about as nice as we can possibly ask for from a happy guest! We certainly agree with you, "a cookie cutter hotel", we are not. Our only cookies are the ones we serve complimentary in our lobby each night, ( alternating with some of the other treats the Chef prepares)....

Thank you for sharing your kind comments, and please come back and see us again soon!

Great hotel, great people, and great food in the restaurant. Had a King Suite overlooking the plaza in Kansas City and it was awesome. Room was very large, full size dining room table, two couches, nice flat screen TV in the living area, and large bedroom with flat screen TV and plenty of closet space. Couldn't have asked for a much nicer room.
Hotel knew it was my birthday and had a welcome bottle of wine waiting in the room along with a box of chocolates. Hotel is not cheap, but you get what you pay for her -- top notch room with great quality. Staff was extremely nice and helpful.
Ate dinner at the hotel restaurant, Chaz. Don't typically eat in the hotel restaurant, but it was extremely cold outside and we didn't want to walk across the street to a restaurant on the Plaza.
If you are looking for an upscale, historic, well maintained hotel, this is your place. Oh, it is also very, very quiet. We had a corner suite so maybe that helped, but we never heard anyone else in the hotel.

Room Tip: Pay for the Plaza view -- it's worth it.

This was my second stay at the Raphael, and it is still a great property in a great location & excellent value. Each floor is different, so this room was smaller than last time but had a better view. Very comfortable room, free wi-fi, nice amenities. KInda cheesy plastic tile around the bath/shower but otherwise very nice. Great staff. Excellent breakfast that was delivered quickly. I left a bag with computer equipment in it & housekeeping found it & sent it back! I highly recommend this hotel .

My daughter (8), myself, and a dear friend stayed here last April. We enjoyed the hospitality of the hotel staff and the elegant setting of the decor. My daughter felt like Eloise of the Plaza Hotel. We walked to the Country Club Plaza from the hotel and enjoyed an evening out including a horse drawn princess carriage ride. When we returned to the hotel, they allow us to bring my daughter into the lounge where she enjoyed a cup of hot cocoa and we sipped on the best chocolate martinis. The live music was the highlight for us. What a wonderful place. We will be staying here again in March and can not wait. No trip to Kansas City is complete without a night at the Raphael.
