The artist scene in Kansas City is alive and vibrant. Now couple that with Jazz and it's on fire! I love the First Friday's Event!

Great historical district with much to see and do. Good area for walking tours and visiting a couple of museums. Some may feel uncomfortable walking the area at night but that can be true in many part of a city. Good family entertainment available in this area.

It was too bad that it was so hot the day we visited this area, as we would have enjoyed much more time discovering everything that this area of Kansas City has to offer. Historic in many ways, slowly being renovated, the area offers a wealthy of attractions from the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum, the American Jazz Museum, the historic Gem Theatre, great restaurants, and a good appreciation of a culture long past. Be sure to see one of the new initiatives, the American Jazz Walk of Fame honouring many of American’s great jazz legends.

this really is not an "area", its an intersection with just 2 museums (in the same building), 2 jazz bars and a few commercial offices in an industrial area.

the only thing open during the day is the museums. we walked through the area since we ate lunch at arthur Bryant's a few blocks away.
