“Wonderful museum!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 5, 2013 via mobile

Absolutely love this museum!!! We've been a few times before whenever we're in town and its always wonderful! I love how there is a little bit from every era all over the world giving a great overview. It's well laid out and interesting. If you're in KC make time to see this great museum!

“Must do if in Kansas City”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 3, 2013

The Nelson Gallery is a Kansas City Icon. In the 70's I took an art appreciation class at UMKC and we met here every week for instruction. This is a world class museum. However I must say my young friends from Florida raced through so they could get to Worlds of Fun.

“If you like art, you'll love the Nelson-Atkins”

I especially loved the sculpture garden. Inside the museum they had set up small exhibits of rooms in historic homes and that was particularly interesting to see. Apart from the great works of Duchamp, Monet, Rodin et.al.

“MOMA meet NAMA”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 29, 2013 via mobile

I was short on time and took a free hour overview tour on Thursday night. I got lucky and was the only person on the tour, so the docent and I had a grand time traversing the massive facility. The building and displays go on forever. The staff even uses a golf cart inside to relieve them from the miles they would be walking.

There is something for everyone - paintings, sculptures, statues and artifacts. And there is even more outside in the sculpture garden.

Check the city events calendar because like me you might luck into the annual Shakespeare Festival held right next door.
