Great history and art. See the capital, visit the Govenors mansion, check out downtown, and eat at Madison's a couple blocks away. It is right on the river so there are quiet places to set and watch nature.

“Don't miss the House Members' Lounge”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 7, 2013

Yes, it's open to the public. And all the walls are filled with monumental murals by Thomas Hart Benton, "A Social History of Missouri" -- warts and all! So glad that the prudish among the legislators didn't get their way to whitewash the murals after they saw (gasp!) a picture of a mother changing a baby's diaper, and dancing girls entertaining politicians a block away. Benton said he put more clothes on them than they actually had. Who should be bothered that Frankie & Johnny, and Tom & Huck, were mythical, or that the James boys are shown shooting up a town? The whole story is told, and its a pleasure... even if you don't see the rest of the art-filled building. Spend a day!

The Missouri State Capitol is one of the prettiest capitol that I have visited. It is rich in history and is a majestic structure that is set in beautiful surroundings

“The Most Beautiful State Capital in the United States”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 5, 2013

I've actually heard that from more than just a few that have visited our great Capital. I had the priviledge of growing up about 6 blocks from it; attend Church and elementary school across the street; worked in it in the '80's and love to include it in all of my long runs to keep my motivated and inspired. It over looks the Missouri River - sits up on a bluff. Drenched in history including Lewis and Clark which has a Memorial just down the street. Make a trip to see our great Capital. You will remember it as one of your best.

“A visit to remember”

I visited it when we had an event for missing and unidentified persons on the rotunda. It was a very educational visit. Parking can be a problem at times but otherwise good.
