Bells is one of our all time favourite dining places on the coast - but this review focuses on the accommodation, which works out around $400 per night for an average sized room. Sure, it's good quality accommodation - but is it worth the money? Probably not. I personally think it's overpriced by at least 30%. Obviously they're targeting high-wealth individuals, but there's nothing here that you wouldn't find in a decent 4 star hotel at half the price. That said, location, staff, service all very good. And restaurant is a must-visit if you're in the area. Just make sure your Bank Manager let's you stay overnight!

Second time round, our stay at Bells was just as magical as the first.
Bells at Killcare is the type of place you imagine when having trouble sleeping in your inner city apartment - king size bed, air conditioning, spa bath (and awesome shower) and a quiet, private balcony to sit and read the paper in the morning - oh and did I mention that this "bed and breakfast" also has a hatted restaurant - created by Steve Manfredi?
The restaurant has great service, a great menu and winelist, and the bar is always a nice place to have a drink in if it's too hot/cold to sit outside on a deck chair in the manicured lawns....
All in all, what more could you want from a weekend retreat? And with a good price on wotif, we can actually afford it!

My wife and I spent 3 nights at this amazing place and loved it! Would definately reccomend it for a getaway with your husband or wife!

We were treated to a hamper breakfast everymorning which was nice, however a bit repetitve after 3 mornings in a row. It was fun having the flexibility for breakfast and have the option of the restaurant if we wanted.

In terms of price expect to pay alot!

We went to Bells on a recommendation from a friend and we were not disappointed. We booked the Winter Package, which included 2 nights in a Deluxe Villa, breakfast daily, and one meal in the restaurant.

We would advise arriving during the day as it could be difficult to find in the dark. The property is set among quiet and beautiful grounds, with the main building at the top and all the individuals villas further down the track. Our villa was split over two levels, with the bedroom at the top and a great balcony to take in the views. Downstairs was the living room, kitchen and bathroom. The log fire was great, and the whole place is decorated to a high standard. The breakfast hamper was plentiful and delicious.

The staff are very friendly and helpful. Our only disappointment was the restaurant experience, for vegetarians be warned there is almost no choice on the menu, there was no vegetarian entree option at all. We didn't feel the food warranted the price that Bells charges, but then again you won't have much other choice locally due to the location of Bells. The other issue was that it was very cold in the restaurant, even with the fire on and sitting next to it. We resorted to wearing our coats during the meal.

If you are looking for a special experience where you just want to relax and read a book with a glass of wine, this is the place to go. Don't expect lively nightlife etc. I would definitely recommend this place.

We spent two nights at Bells in a King Spa Suite. The Restaurant is very good and the service was excellent. The bread is very tasty however it is made with olive oil. Olive Oil is also used heavily in the cooking. In addition the breakfast supplied to the room contains olive oil bread and olive oil muesli as well as fruit, bacon, sausages and eggs.
After just one day you can constantly taste the strong fruity flavour of the olive oil, which I found unpleasant. We requested a low fat breakfast but this was not possible. It was fortunate that we brought all our own oats, straw bran, organic dried fruits, tea, and low fat milk from home.
In addition, we supplied our own perforated paper towels as there is constant washing up to do and there was just two tea towels and nonperforated paper roll available. Some of the cutlery in the drawer had food stuck to it, so it needed to be washed before we used it, thus adding to the clean up.
We decided to BBQ the sausages, bacon, eggs, tomato and mushrooms for lunch. The sausages and bacon were very salty. It took 2 hours to complete the cooking and cleaning task. So we gave it a miss on the day we left (check out time was 11 am).
It was most enjoyable sitting on the verandah of the Suite, however there is no mobile phone signal so you are forced to go to the main reception building to make calls.
The Suite was well designed however some things needed fixing as a result of age. The walls are thin, so if there had been someone next door, it may have been noisy. All pathways are covered in various gravels which constantly get trapped in your shoes. Paving would have been a better alternative to gravel.
I would recommend Bells as long as you are prepared to do a lot of the chores you do at home and bring your own food.

After our not so great experience in January, the new owners did finally get back to us and gave us another chance to experience the new Bells. I'm so pleased they did, as we can now say without any hesitation that the new and improved Bells is definitely worth a visit!

The new cottages are superb, immensely comfortable and when upgrades to the old cottages are finished, Bells will surely be a great luxury escape retreats for couples.

We had a beautiful meal in the restaurant, with a great selection of fine wines to choose from. Our breakfast supplies were wonderful, and we had a truly relaxing and enjoyable weekend. We will definitely be back!
