We stayed in one of the villa's - beautiful. The gardens are wonderful and the food in the restaurant was magnificent. The staff were helpful and very friendly. The breakfast hamper was great! We will definately return.

  • Liked — The uniqueness and garden setting

After our not so great experience in January, the new owners did finally get back to us and gave us another chance to experience the new Bells. I'm so pleased they did, as we can now say without any hesitation that the new and improved Bells is definitely worth a visit!

The new cottages are superb, immensely comfortable and when upgrades to the old cottages are finished, Bells will surely be a great luxury escape retreats for couples.

We had a beautiful meal in the restaurant, with a great selection of fine wines to choose from. Our breakfast supplies were wonderful, and we had a truly relaxing and enjoyable weekend. We will definitely be back!

We have just come back from a peaceful and relaxing weekend at Bells and do not have anything but good things to say about it.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was great and the spa was fabulous. At any time during the day, there was no noise - just peace. At only an hour from Sydney, this is a perfect luxury getaway.

Obviously the food was fantastic - and the wine even better! We enjoyed the concept of having fresh ingredients delivered so we could cook our own breakfast - it meant we didn't have to rush to a packed dining room for breakfast and also meant that we could happily eat in our bathrobes!

We will definitely be back and would highly recommend to all our family and friends.

We went to this hotel expecting a luxurious and indulgent experience and we were in no way disappointed. This was five star all the way and you do get what you pay for. We were in the Safari spa suite and it was beautiful. Cosy robes, bubble bath, classy toiletries and stunning, tasteful decor plus a great breakfast hamper and we could have wanted for nothing. It was great to be able to prepare our own brekkie on the balcony and to just be at one with the gardens and the little cottage all to ourselves. This place is ideal for couples wanting something a little more special than usual.

  • Liked — So peaceful and idyllic - an ideal getaway
  • Disliked — Slightly tricky to find but that's the point!

My partner and I stayed at the Bells over Xmas in 2005 - following our wedding in the Whitsunday Islands. We were in Oz for 5 weeks and wanted somewhere quiet, away from crowds of people, to spend our first married Xmas together!

I didn't place a review when we got back, but have just seen the recent one so thought I'd add ours ....

We stayed in the Safari room - very nice - as the name suggests styled as if staying in an upmarket safari lodge. Very private with its own veranda, BBQ, huge spa bath etc etc - just what we needed.

Breakfast was provided in a basket every morning (you made your choice the night before) - which we cooked on the BBQ. We didn't eat in the restaurant - preferring instead to get our provisions from the nearby village (Killcare), load the fridge with beers/wine and relax.

If you want to get away from it all for a few days this is a perfect place to stay.

If we ever make it to Oz again we would definitely stay here again for a few nights.

  • Liked — Private comfortable room, very relaxing.
  • Disliked — nothing!

My partner and I stayed at Bells for a what was supposed to be a luxurious weekend in spa cottage accommodation as the website stated. Unfortunately, we were placed in the Coach House Unit, which was anything but luxurious. The ground floor was window-less so very dark and dingy, and the bathroom was tiny with not even a bath, let alone a spa. Understandably, the Coach House is not pictured on Bell's website. Had we seen it before hand, we never would have booked.

The included 'breakfast' was a hamper complete with eggs, bacon, bread etc, that we had to prepare ourselves. We do this all the time at home, so when we go away, we want someone else to do the work!

The disappointment continued to dinner as the restaurant was closed. When we enquired about this, it was due to the long weekend. We thought this very strange given that the hotel was booked out, so I'm sure others shared our annoyance.

We completed the feedback form that was in the room, stating that we were displeased and have never had a response.

Killcare is a beautiful place and one that we will return to, but we will never return to Bells.

We took over the lease of Bells at Killcare on the 1st of December 2007. The The Coach House is no longer used as accomodation.
