Just opposite Richmond Gaol with parking across the street, this is a convenient refreshment stop with great baked goods. We bought a continental baguette to take away and this was delicious. Excellent customer service.

Nice quiet place to escape a cold wind. Great selection of cakes. Left feeling a little sad that I couldn't sample more of the amazing looking cakes, pastries, buns, mmmmmm buns!

Richmond is a pretty little tourist trap. We'd not have visited if our car's GPS hadn't diverted us through. Perhaps we would've missed out on this cute little town otherwise. Clearly this place is historically significant, but seems like tourism is all it has left.

The Richmond Bakery and Cafe somehow lured us in.
Essentially it is a bakery, that serves coffee and provides seating.
The meat pies are delicious, no questions about that.
The other baked items are harmless but uninspired. Simply average.
The service is appropriate to a fast food outlet, polite but not exceptional.

There's no parking to be had other than on the street.

This place was busy even though it was low season, which stands to reason once you try their delicious food. We went here on a recommendation and didn't regret it a bit. I had the stunning raspberry tart - lovely short pastry filled with amazing custard cream and topped with stacks of fresh raspberries all slathered in glossy berry glaze. My partner had the caramel slice - it disappeared rather quickly so must have been good. Such a range of cakes, slices, pies, buns etc you will find it hard to choose just one thing. Oh and they sell the leftover breadrolls as "duck bread" - next to nothing for a large bag - take it down to the river near the convict bridge and feed the very appreciative ducks and geese that live there. We saw a grandmother with a picnic basket doing this with her grandkids - they were having a ball!

I have had Lamingtons round the world and Richmond Bakery is by far the finest. A rich, perfectly dense cake covered by a thin vanerr of chocolate and moist coconut. After eating half the cake guilt required me to share the remaining portion with my other three travel companions. To the person they each commented that this was one fine Lamington. None remained as we left this friendly, welcoming and relaxed bakery. Today we return for another go.
