We stayed in the peak season and had expectations that for such a high room rate we would have received some service. Example being DVDs available at front desk but we weren't told and there was no in room info to supplement the zero help from the staff. We didn't get to meet the owners, just the staff.
Noise from people walking about in room above was more than we'd expect in a room 1/2 the price.
Other than that, spa was great and Richmond is always worth visiting.

Interesting place. Enjoyed our stay: lovely spot, handy to town, quiet, good value. Enjoyed meeting the owner, who, I think is great! She went out of her way to accommodate us and we really enjoyed meeting her. Unlike some others that have reviewed Hatcher's, I didn't find her overly 'eccentric', a judgement call anyway! I would visit again.

Room Tip: The fully self-contained rooms are a better bet for a multi-night stay.

We had a fabulous time at Hatcher's. The staff were friendly and the kids particularly enjoyed feeding the animals (alpacas, goat, horses, bunnies and most of all, Larry the sheep. They still miss him). Good facilities for a family - Col was happy to clean off the BBQ for us to use and there was a washing machine. A great family holiday, thanks!

Eccecntric owner - check!
Staff with poor command of English - check!
Poorly constructed and badly maintained property - check!

Based on our experience of the accommodation and from reading the reviews we were not brave enough to try the restaurant but again would not be surprised if it too has much in common with Faulty Towers.

Our children liked the idea of going to fed the farm animals, but the rural idyl experience was ruined as the track down to the paddocks was littered with builders rubble and other rubbish, and the children came back back screaming after touching an electric fence, which we were told by the owner had been turned off.

We only stayed here as there was no other place to stay, as it is peak season and our travel plans have been affected by the bush fires. Although not terrible, our room is not overly clean, and things like missing light bulbs are annoying. I'm guessing that the cleaning is done by the foreign exchange students, who look like they have never lived out of home before. I would not stay here again and am sure better value can be found elsewhere.

It took us around 20 minutes driving to this manor from airport. We had great meal there and the staff were very friendly. The chef called Doris is so nice and good cook, I just found out that she use to work in Sydney at Chatswood. Feeding the rabbits, horses and picking the cherries were such fun things and new experience for us.

It was a really good way to get away from Sydney---quite, beautiful.

I booked a accommodation on 3rd Jan but unfortunately I had cancel the booking due to change fry to Sydney on 1th Jan.

We Will defiantly go back next time with friends and stay there overnight.

Whilst the promotional photos seemed fairly accurate to what we found at Hatcher's Manor, and the price reasonable for a very comfortable four poster bed set in a two room annex connected to the main building, and the surrounding area quaint, rural and fresh for the senses...there were some problems which certainly shaped our overall impressions of the place. Unlike other reviewers, our issues were not in any way rooted in the condition of the property (our room was as advertised, basic milk/tea and toiletries, clean sheets, comfortable pillows), instead, they arose from the owners and strange/awkward atmosphere they produced.

We did enjoy the one meal we purchased, but were far from impressed, even comfortable, with the conduct of the chap who appeared to be the owner. His wife, a goldie hawn X Patsy (of AbFab fame) creature was endearing in her own peculiar but pleasant way, but her husband's unsolicited leering towards my Lady, and winks in my direction along with comments of 'how beautiful your girlfriend is', along with a few spoken lines about her looks which were improper; made us both eager to part from his presence, and me personally, wonder more about the connecting door in our room...

The energy was strange. It felt like they may have been ritualistic in some odd fashion, and when the guests were in their rooms, the clothes would come off, man would dance with pig, woman with dog, bizarre sexual rites would ensue, Dionysus or Maenad style. Too hard to put my finger on it during the brief, less than 24 period we stayed at the Manor, but definitely something which made part of me, and my Lady, and many others included in this review thread, rather ill at ease.

Personally, I found the photo album of The Making Of The Manor at first mildly eccentric, and then worryingly sinister, for what kind of guests do the owners perceive would want to not only view but also purchase at a high price photos of their clan/cult building the manor many years ago???

Its very much THEIR world you are heading into, the owners world and the orientals, perhaps investors????? Its an odd sight to find more orientals than whites working and visiting an english style country manor in the countryside near Hobart...

Nice people, other than the leering goon with the 'tash, but they were just too uncouth to enjoy/accommodate when the aim was a private retreat in the countryside. The horses and sheep appeared normal...and unaffected by the misfiring synapses in their human neighbours.
