The open fire was absolutly lovely and there was plenty of wood to keep it going all night. However not inside, and there was no kindling so it was difficult and took a long time to get the fire started, but once going was absolutly lovely.

Unfortunately the only other heating, was a bar heater, which did little to heat the place, which meant the cottage was very cold for quite some time while we got the fire going.

Apart from the heating situation, our stay in the cottage was lovely and relaxing.

Room Tip: Be aware that in winter the cottage could be quite cold.

Enjoyed our stay. It was cold in Richmond and the coal fire was great.
Would be great if TV was in the same room as the fire, not in the dining room.
Loads of hot water.
Bedroom a bit dull with no window, only up in ceiling.
Needs new furniture.
Very clean.

After a lot of research chose the Bridge cottage for proximity to town and the bridge. A nice place for an overnight stay. Loved the fire and the breakfast provisions. Yes, plunger coffee a nice touch. Not many options for dinner in the village. Had a pub meal. Wouldn't rave about it but filled a spot. Probably better to do your own in the well appointed kitchen. Local manager very friendly and accommodating.

We booked this cottage at the last minute. The owners and staff were welcoming and think of every little convenience for your stay including stocking and re-stocking wood in the fireplace. Only drawback is the tired decor and a damp smell in the bathroom/laundry. Also, sadly, this lovely historic cottage has been sliced in half and the building doesn't like the conversion very much. However, for the price it's good value and we would recommend it. Also, you a provided with fresh milk and eggs - a very nice touch.

Whilst driving around Tasmania we ended up in Richmond with nothing booked. The Bridge cottage was ideally located a short walk to the village directly opposite the historic bridge with a lovely river walk. We rang the number Shirley arrived promptly and showed us through the cottage. Although not Luxury very comfortably appointed with more than enough space for two. We certainly didnt expect to need a fire in December but the fire was set and was well used. We enjoyed fresh local seafood by the fire followed by a complimentary port.
A very enjoyable stay and for what we paid and received great value. Would recommend.

Driving to the township of Richmond and with no bookings we drove past this cottage and phoned the number on the banner outside. The manager of the cottage was around within minutes and we were set for the one night stay.
We stayed in the Sergeants Quarters side of the cottage. Open fire in the sitting room which was set ready. The bedroom was smallish but comforable. The kitchen area was large and very well set up, There was even leaf tea, tea pot and strainer which is what I love!! Coffee grounds and plunger also an extra very often not included were available. We were given provisions for our breakfast also. The family room, bathroom and laundry had been added, slate flooring with underfloor heating!
We walked down the main street, procured our provisions for dinner, had a little look around before the shops closed for the night and came 'home' and settled in. Pre dinner drinks and nibbles by the open fire in the sitting room while listening to the classical music cds supplied!
Dinner later in the kitchen, watched TV and slept soundly.
Richmond is a gorgeous historic township, could easily stay for a few days. Autum was a great time to be there surrounded by the beautiful colours of the trees. Don't forget to go and feed the duck at the river too!
